A close up of the bottle, you can see the lace rosettes I made from some of the lace in the kit. I added the bead trim around the cameo.
Here are the tools that I have chosen for applying some texture. I bought the 2 middle ones just for this. I had Max the dog, at the Ceramic Store in Houston, pick them out for me. We'll see how if I can recommend his opinion.
This is the first page of my altered book. This is my first attempt at doing an altered book, and it took me a very long time to find and collect the elements I wanted to use to illustrate a poem I wrote called, Trapped. This page spills over to the second page with flames from the dragon that I freehand drew and cut out of several shades of orange scrapbook paper. The puzzle was an absolute find, as it had the main elements of the poem in it. This portion was tricky to attach, but I love the effect. The beginning of the first line, "Once upon a time," is above. I edged both pages with this wild red thread attached to brads to add thickness to the page and hold things together. The black is paint from the second page that I carried over to stretch the effect. The purple in the background is the color of the page in the original book. My blog has details of what I used, brands, etc.

This old Train Station is closed but found a new purpose. They turned it into a small hotel with a beautiful restaurant.

I have my first shelf full for the year. Not bad for a few hard hours of work. It's fun to do some loose work every once in awhile. Loose work looks good woodfired. It looks even better after it is woodfired 4 or 5 times.
