My baby girl had her open day in High School today, she was rather nervious going in but soon found it wasn't as scary as she though it would be. She loved the school especially the Science classroom the humour appealed to her, on the wall was a poster made by the teacher saying
'I have my ION you'

For my work as a journalist I was at a great remembrance ceremony for the Second World War that week. Also prime minister Balkenende and prime minister Harper of Canada attended the ceremony in Bergen op Zoom. It was really crowded with a lot of veterans and their children and grandchildren.
I felt really gratefull for those men and women who gave their lives for me. As it weren't for them, I would speak German right now.
I took a lot of pictures for the newspaper. Afterwards the ceremony I walked a little while at the graveyard. I saw a lot of graves of people who were younger than me when they died. Also M. Gariepy, died 30 octobre 1944 aged 30.
Suddenly I'm not afraid of turning thirty anymore...

I have always said no, no, no to having a pet dog. I grew up with two Labradors at home back in Bristol, Cath grew up with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, so we knew the responsibilities of owning a dog.
I knew what is entailed but when everyone in your family nags and nags and nags and catches you off guard, especially when you've had a drink, you are finally worn down and relent.
So, here he is, we picked him up from the breeders last Sunday, he's a Miniature Schnauzer, 9 weeks old and already part of our little family.
I will be a lot more loving to him when he is house trained. at present I have the permanent smell of disinfectant and air freshener up my nostrils.
Archie receives his final injection next week and then he will be able to venture out of doors and will be a familiar face over Roath Park Rec.

Route 66 through California at least, is littered with sights like this. In it's heyday as the route to the south west, the road supported many cafe's, drive-thru's, gas stations, restaurants, motels and repair shops, all living off the healthy passing trade. Then came the I-40, transforming travel across the California desert. With the passing trade drying up, slowly the businesses failed and closed the door for the last time.
With no trade, the buildings became virtually worthless and fell into ruin. I reckon it's over 40 years now since the gas pumps whirred and the burgers were flipped here. But stand and close your eyes for just a moment and you'll be able to visualise how things were.
Interstates may be good, but they're not all good...

I paid a visit to the Mid Hants Railway Autumn gala yesterday. LMS Ivatts 41312 and 41241 return light engine to Ropley after working a freight from Medsteads to Alton and back.
These little squirrels are not afraid at all of people. They were running around a park in Monterey.
If I'm not wrong, they're California ground squirrels. I put my camera on the grass to try to take a picture, and suddenly they were too close to shoot!

So one bad thing about being afraid that your super cool besty friend nymph will come and hunt you down if you cut your hair, is that when you are working and sweating, is that your bangs are hella in the way!
so I asked if I could wear at hat "only if its disney" (we only sell KIDS hats!) then I asked if I could wear a bandana "only if its dinsey" Where in the world will I find that!?
Then it came to me like a rainbow on a cloudy day... OUR CAMO HEADBANDS!!!!
Score, for 5.00 I got this tink headband... worked like a charm!
