More apes I'm afraid, this is the baby bonobo ( Pan paniscus ) Lopori, I'm not sure if it's her real mum or foster mum; really touching to see them interacting, something I've always wanted to see : ) Taken at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire.
From the Bonobo Conservation Initiative :
' It is difficult to answer the question: "What is a Bonobo?" Bonobos are complex beings with profound intelligence, emotionality, and sensitivity. It's like asking the question: "What is a human?" And, how do you answer? Philosophers, scientists, and mystics have been trying to figure it out for thousands of years!
Biologically speaking, bonobos are the closest you can get to being human without being human. Bonobos look more like humans than other apes, and display many behavioral similarities as well. Bonobos and people share more than 98% of the same genetic make-up (DNA). Bonobos and their cousins the chimpanzees, are more closely related genetically to us than they are to gorillas! But, like gorillas, they dwell only in the equatorial forests of central Africa, the cradle of humanity itself. '

well you're not brave if you still keep the letters;
and you're not sane if you don't want to get better;
and you're not drunk if you can stay in your lane.
well you're not awake but you haven't been sleeping;
and you hate god but you don't believe in him;
and you're not scared but you still got you're eyes closed.
On September 12th at 4:29PM, a cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) and an eastern fox squirrel (Sciurus niger) were spotted on the path between Blanton-Nason-Brewer Hall and Missouri Hall. I was easily able to walk up to both animals and take a picture of them. I believe this was possible due to adaptations by both animals and a change in how they process humans within their landscapes of fear. Due to generations of both animals (most likely) living on campus surrounded by non-hostile humans, their landscape of fear changed from avoiding humans to living together in a "if you do not bother me, I will not bother you" environment. This increasingly-safe environment will let both animals create longer and more fit offspring as they do not need to allocate resources to defense or creating many offspring.

Looking for things for the Cringe Book. These are the journals from age 11 to age 24. After that I kind of wrote less and less in journal form. (and more in blog form, how modern!)
..or actually the dark is afraid.
Illustration for Cosmogirl, for a letter from a reader who complains she's still uncomfortable in the dark(at 15 years of age that is).
We(the art director and I) chose to turn it around and make her bed so cosy that the 'monster' that may have been hiding under her bed had to leave the room.
