... and on to other things! My fun fact for today ... people at work are so kind to share these things with me (oh, I'm so thankful.... lol!) Owls eat the heads off of pheasants and leave the rest of the bird. This is disturbing on so many levels... first of all...owls are birds, pheasants are birds... so isn't this... kind of... cannibalism? (ewww) Owls eat brains.... kind of like zombies. Wouldn't there be a lot more tasty meat on the rest of the bird... than the head?!! (Brains must be really good) Leaving the rest of the bird is kind of wasteful, don't you think? So, that became a discussion today... and then someone tried to explain something else to me and I had to admit to them... "I'm sorry, I'm not listening.... I just can't get past the owls eating the pheasant's heads... and then I had to google it. (the rest of my work just had to wait) It's true. I guess it's not really a "fun fact", is it?... especially not for the pheasants.
But...on a lighter note... it was warm today... and the sun was out... and the sky was blue!! No grey! YEY!!
My dog is afraid of bathing in the sea but, when we found some days ago this "natural bathtub made of leaves", he had no problem bathing and jumping in it. At some point, the leaves covered him all!

Thank you very much for all your kind messages and comments on my last photo. We are safe and sound. The hurricane passed a little bit farther, so it was only a lot of rain and puddles, but no wind, at least here.
Sadly, there were destruction on the coast of the beautiful Riviera Maya. Now, Delta is approaching the coast of the Louisiana, Hope no human losses are given there.

I am not afraid of spiders, but I know many are. I found it fitting for this quote, for it was weighing heavily on my mind today. I was on my daily 3 mile walk this morning and the thought popped into my head. I prayed....help me to do one thing each day that scares me. There will be nothing left to fear then. :)
I am not sure what kind of spider this is. I am thinking it is a Grass Spider. If anyone knows, you are welcome to enlighten me here in the comments. :)

One of my attempts at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Crack".
Not afraid to admit that I had to slightly crop this to get a macro image out of it... didn't want to risk that beautiful lens (you can take a look at the album, if you want to see this underrated classic).
Still - I just love looking into the fire and I'd really like to get significantly closer to the details. Maybe with a longer focal length lens and a proper setup in the future.

I'm afraid I was not ready for this, with completely the wrong set up and settings and also failed to nail the focus, so apologies for the quality (lesson learnt). However, since a sighting of a stoat is uncommon enough, let alone with prey, I felt it was still worth posting.

After you've been forced to change paths it's easy to feel lost, alone, and afraid in the darkness. Naked and vulnerable, exposed for the world to see and judge, all defenses stripped bare and left open like fresh wound, to feel anything other than afraid would just be bad instincts. It's okay to be scared, it's okay to feel afraid, this is when you should feel frightened, this trial will test you and try to break you.
Whether it succeeds is up to a number of factors, none of them bigger than your own willingness or unwillingness to give up. Other people may or may not be able to, or choose to help you, but no one will ever be a bigger factor than you will be for yourself. None of us are in complete control of our destiny, even the very most successful people have setbacks and take losses, but how we respond to those losses in the end is what defines us and determines if we spend the rest of our lives naked and afraid, or back in the driver's seat of our lives.
