Challenged myself to take my 45mm 1.8 lens for my Covid Lockdown walk today. Photographed this 3 metre tall tuatara from the Who's Afraid sculpture. (See a previous post of this sculpture: flic.kr/p/2iNF7vu)

The "Who's Afraid" sculpture was unveiled outside the Regent Theatre in Broadway on 3 July 2011. It is by local artist, Paul Dibble. The sculpture is in bronze of blue-green patina. The two contrasting pieces challenge each other, physically and metaphorically. The taller, the dancer, stands 3.5 metres. eying the 3 metre tall tuatara. Paul Dibble said, "Because it's for the Regent Theatre, it's about drama, acting out emotions and feelings. I've called it Who's Afraid, but I'm not too sure if she's alarmed or trying to scare the tuatara. There is also a fair bit of joy in her and that's because theatre is about all those emotions."

That's quite a thing to say given you're riding in a commie tank, girl. Anyways, I wanted to make my T-72ish thing smaller. Small enough that it looked small with minifigs. I was also fooling around with flags and missed my black-blue-white tricolor. Oh, better days those were... See below for the girl's story. But here's what I'm most pleased with:

Lego dimensions:

22 studs in hull, 32 studs gun forward

10 studs wide

~7.5 studs high

Real dimensions:

Length 22 ft 10 in hull, 31 ft 3 in gun forward

Width 11 ft 9 in

Height 7 ft 4 in

Pretty close, huh? And now, DC4 kids, I'm not assuming cold war will be our next theme. This is a personal project that I've been working on for a bit, as Ian and Victis/Argolit can attest to.

And now for Awe to be a sperglord about a geopolitical/military Lego roleplaying game played years ago: Sitka "Hood" was a character from the extensive PCU canon shared between Nick and I. The one based on Diplomats and Legions 1, where Ultra shrekt us with his Western Confederation and superior fighting abilities. That's right DC4 kids, Team Awe has had their collective asses handed to them in the past, and more than once. Sitka here was a biorobot made partially with the DNA of Governor Hood, who was also the AI of the Lyra prototype. Yeah, the PCU canon was really... different from the legal portrayal in the groups. Sitka and her submarine end up forming the core of a small fleet that escape Ultra's dudes when they capture Astoria, OR, the PCU fleet headquarters. My explanation for this picture is that Sitka and her die-hard fighters made a portal to another universe and went there. BTW the PCU canon had teleporters in 2037. Not even ashamed, just like our playstyle, the PCU lore was way over the top.

Last of the Mono's (blue tint) before a few colour shots - that's after a pause or two. You know what they say - "Too much of the same thing......"

It gets better after this :-) After food, the colour comes in :-)))))))

An everyday daydreamer

A foreign and unintentional loss of focus

A lack of determination, passion, desire

Blinded by the blizzard’s turbulent snow

I am lost.

Lost and tormented by my own being

Trapped and heartbroken within myself

I cannot save me, at least not now

I must wait a little longer

But I am anxious.

Anxious to get out

Eager to escape this box

This loathed path of suffocation

A world without creativity

I am in anguish.

Anguish inflicted by my own mistakes

Why had I listened to anyone but myself?

This is my life, not theirs

Oh, the pressure and restrictions

I have been stupid.

Stupid to be so naïve

To have believed everything they said as the only truth

Adhering to rigidity when born to run free

The misfortune of discovering oneself too late

I am afraid.

Chrysolina americana

Attractive, 8mm long, metallic green beetle with purple stripes.

To be found on Rosemary, Lavender, Thyme, Sage and some other related plants.

The soft-bodied grubs are greyish white with five darker longitudinal lines; fully grown larvae are 5 to 8mm long.

.

The beetle is a native of southern Europe that has become an established pest in Britain since the 1990s especially in the south east of England. It seems to be rapidly colonising the country.

"Filled with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tell the disciples.

And there, coming to meet them, was Jesus. ‘Greetings’ he said. And the women came up to him and, falling down before him, clasped his feet. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee; they will see me there.’

While they were on their way, some of the guard went off into the city to tell the chief priests all that had happened. These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum of money to the soldiers with these instructions, ‘This is what you must say, “His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.” And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselves and to see that you do not get into trouble.’ The soldiers took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among the Jews."

People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that's bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous.

How can they deal with love if they're afraid to feel?

Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they're wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how you carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you.

Your own reality.

If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you're letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.

Now there's no place like home

To make me feel alone

I see you everywhere I am

And I remember how you ran out to hide

You kept me close behind

Following your every move.

Skull-shaped bokeh!! Be very afraid...

We made Explore #113 on July 30th!

I am afraid i am using lot of photoshop these days.. But this photo and the previous one i have in my stream demanded it. To get the right mood.

I used a gradient fill to darken the right side of the pic (Wish i had a gradient filter!). It was a over cast day and the light was even through out the scene, focused on the bike and underexposed as the background had more light with it.

Probably a question found on the crane company employment form:)-

If you happen to be walking through the woods and look up to see this Cooper's Hawk ...

Vannes (11/01/15)

A view looking up because this is one of my fears. I am not sure if its because I am little. I would have loved to post an image from a cliff top or even a bridge, just going over a bridge driving makes me anxious and I start to panic, get sweaty palms and have the urge to jump. I would like to overcome this fear as there are so many places in the world where the view from above would be so much better than the view from below.
