Active space compositions.
Taken on the Anglesey coastal path.
A composition used in Week 28 - Active space - set by the Compositionally Challenged Group.
I am not sure about the suitability of the term for this image, but I like that the road is the active space for the viewer. It sort of draws me in.

Heterodon platirhinos
An adult found active in a prairie fen in southwest Michigan. Hognose snakes are generally associated with dry, sandy soils where they hunt toads; their favorite prey. But this individual, along with another seen the day before, were found in a wet lowland.
Taken during a helicopter flight from Hilo airport on the East coast of Big Island, Hawaii. This helicopter flight was run by Paradise Copters and we went for the "doors off" extreme flight over the top of the active Pu'u O'o volcanic vent/crater, which had plenty of lava on show for us bubbling away in the crater, and flowing out in a lava river a little lower down one of the crater flanks.
Family: Lasiocampidae
Dozens of the diurnal males (smaller, orange moth) were flying low over vegetation at Pewsey Downs. When two went to ground at the same spot, I found the female photographed here. There did appear to be some element of active competition for mating, which followed the successful male "nuzzling" the females abdomen.

Active dry yeast is the form of yeast most commonly availablein the United States. Under most conditions, active dry yeast must first be proofed or rehydrated. It can be stored at room temperature for a year, or frozen for more than a decade, which means that it has better keeping qualities than other forms, but it is generally considered more sensitive than other forms to thermal shock when actually used in recipes.
A solid first half on both sides of the ball was undone by three turnovers in the third quarter that led to 21 unanswered points as South Carolina pulled away for a 56-20 victory over the visiting 49ers and MyCarolinas Jerry Self was on the field catching all the action. Active pit detected in Seth region of Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. This is an OSIRIS narrow-angle camera image acquired on 28 August 2014 from a distance of 60 km. The image resolution is 1 m/pixel. Enhancing the contrast (right) reveals fine structures in the shadow of the pit, interpreted as jet-like features rising from the pit.

WIT
As you maybe know, last weeks of 2019 were totally focused on rehousing our office to a new building. This is a shot of my new office, taken using the timer on my camera. So the room is new, the view too, most of the furniture. The person in the room (actually it is me) is not new. Not at all.....

Notes: The first book published with illustrations printed directly from albumen on glass negatives. This is the atlas volume containing 13 plates. The mounting pages bear the legends "Gide et J. Baudry Editeurs" and "Photog. par Bisson, Fr. - Imp. Lemercier, Paris."
L'Oeuvre de Rembrandt, reproduit par photographie represents a somewhat less traditional choice of subject. Although Rembrandt's etchings and paintings were rediscovered in the 1840s, thanks to the writings of Thore-Burger and the works of the Barbizon school, they did not command the high prices of a Raphael or Rubens, or even an Ingres or Wilkie. The etchings that Blanc selected were even less appreciated, except by a small group of peintures-graveurs and collectors who later formed the Societe des Aquafortistes. Blanc must have convinced Gide et Baudry, a well-known firm specializing in luxuriously illustrated travel books, to edit the work and turned to Lemercier et Compagnie to produce prints from Bisson's negatives. The Isaac Potts House, a small farmhouse with a plain early Georgian exterior and an elaborate late Georgian interior served as General Goerge Washington's headquarters and residence during the winter encampent of the Continental Army from December 1777 to June 1778. The house is believed to have been constructed in 1773 for Isaac Potts, operator of the family grist mill, although some sources place the construction as early as 1759. In 1777-78 the property was owned by ISaac but rented to his aunt, the widow Deborah Hewes who sublet it to Washington. The General's wife, Martha, lived here with him in the later months of the encampment and the administrative business of the army was transacted on the first floor.
Washington Memorial Chapel, located on private property along Route 23 within Valley Forge National Historic Park, serves as both an active Episcopal Parish as well as a tribute to General George Washington. Designed by Milton B. Medary, and resulting from a sermon preached by founder, the Rev. Dr. W. Herbert Buk, the Chapel was copleted in 1917--fourteen years after the cornerstone was laid on the 125th anniversary of the evacuation of the continental army from the area.
Valley Forge National Historical Park, encompassing 3,466-acres eighteen miles northwest of Philadelphia, preserves and reinterprets the site where the the main body of the Continental Army--between 10,000 and 12,000 troops--was encamped during from December 19, 1778 to June 19, 1778, the American Revolutionary War.
After the Battle of White Marsh (or Edge Hill), Washington chose Valley Forge as an encampment because it was between the Continental Congress in York, Supply Depots in Reading, and British forces in Philadelphia. Undernourished and poorly clothed through the harsh winter, Washington's troops were ravaged by disease, suffering as many as two thousand losses, with thousands more listed as unfit for futy. Despite the conditions, the winter at Valley Forge proved invaluable for the young army, which underwent its first uniform training regimen, under the guidance of Prussian drill master, Baron Friedrich von Steuben.
Valley Forge, named for the iron forge built along Valley Creek in the 1740's, was established as the first state park of Pennsylvania in 1893 by the Valley Forge Park Commission. In 1923, the VFPC was brought under the Department of Forests and Waters and later incorporated into the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in 1971. In 1976, Pennsylvania gave the park as a gift to the nation for the the Bicentennial. The National Park System established the area as Valley Forge National Historical Park on July 4, 1976.
