A role player acting as an active shooter searches for victims during an active-shooter drill at Evans Branch Medical Clinic April 22 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The drill began when a subject entered Evans Branch Medical Clinic and simulated firing rounds while all personnel inside the clinic took action and executed the standard operating procedures for an active shooter. The training exercise allows participating personnel to find their weaknesses, so they are better prepared in case of a real shooter.

Active Assignment Weekly Jan 6 to 13, 2014 Stairways
"Your assignment for this week is to creatively capture all or a portion of a stairway or set of stairs. Stairways are fascinating in that they lead somewhere—up or down and often times to mysterious looking places. Think of varying perspectives (close, wide, up, down) and try different framing options. Be careful and don’t fall down the stairs"
WIT: Spend some time driving around town looking for interesting stairs to photograph. The one's with the most character were in shaded areas and hard to frame. As an alternative I started looking at small sets of stairs in the older part of town. The clouds had just moved on when I ran across these unshoveled stairs leading into an abandoned apartment building. Cropped and some adjustments to exposure and brightness.
Active Assignment Weekly 13/11/17-20/11/17: A small (red) ball
Spec: Recently I saw a series of pictures involving a small red ball, placed in all sorts of environments, background, nature, cityscape etc. It was fun to see what each photographer came up with, using such a simple object. The challenge for this week: take a small (red) ball with you and find a good place for it and shoot it. Do's: it should be a ball, but it may be a different color than red. Dont's: No indoor shots, take some fresh air for this assignment!
WIT: No red ball, had to settle for orange. We have quite a nice deadish tree in our garden. SOOC.

Female Wolf Spider (Pardosa Spp). wolf spiders are often active very early in the spring. They can be seen scurrying around hunting for prey and warming themselves in the sunshine on patches of bare soil. Unlike spiders who use a web to catch their food, these wolf spiders catch their prey by running it down.
The female wolf spider carries her eggs in a round sack beneath her body. When the spiderlings hatch from their eggs the female carries the baby spiders on her back until they are big enough to fend for themselves. Photo by Nick Dobbs, Bournemouth, Dorset 24-04-20

Shot for Active Assignment Weekly. The topic of this week is Minscape, a made up word, not to be confused with manscaping.
So what you SHOULD take a picture of, is minimal landscapes.
WIT:
Driving into some local maize fields after heavy rain this morning, and climbing on top of the car to get a viewpoint. Crop to be more panoramic and very slight straightening.
It's magical to watch kids get ready for Halloween. Came across these boys at a Halloween party at the park, all from different families - Spidey never goes out of fashion.
WIT: Had the boys get together to play Spiderman. Took the shot. There was a parking lot in the background, so decided to blur the background to add to the action and magical feeling.
Dare: I usually don't try to impose too much on others for a picture, but had to talk to each of the 3 parents in order to recruit the boys to get together for the magical moment. Just couldn't pass it up.
Heading home to Ladner from Victoria (on Vancouver Island (Canada)) today, there was enough fog that a lookout was posted at the front of the ferry. I spent the first half of the trip with a 180mm lens capturing the wonderful bleakness/richness of the fog. It is the long weekend, so there were a lot of small craft about, livening up our trip.

You're assignment this week, if you choose to accept it, is to take your flash off camera. Now if you don't have off camera flash abilities, please feel free to be creative and using other lighting sources.
DARE: Your dare will be to use a long exposure (Include multiple flashes if you can).
I used a light tent with the flash on the outside top of the tent. Basic adjustments in LR and added a white vignette
A few clues as to where this has been sat before ending up here. Car Supermarket, auction, holding yard... where next? Not sure why the mileage is deemed incorrect, the recorded mileages at the MOTs look ok?

Feature one letter or the whole alphabet in your creative image be sure it is awesome! Dare: something other than the English alphabet. Restriction: No signs and must be a color photograph.
WIT: Cropped to square, straightened, applied a B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro, then re-read the rules and removed it, tried again with Colour Efex Pro 4.
The Active Learning Center (ALC), formerly known as the ME-EM "Fishbowl." has been completely transformed into a technology-rich collaborative learning space, featuring 72 student computer stations, three instructor stations and 29 collaboration LCD monitors hung from the ceiling.
That coal-black island in the centre is Nea Kameni, Greece's only active volcano. It sits in the centre of the magnificent caldera, idly smoking and throwing occasional tantrums.
The 3-hour stroll along the caldera rim from the centre of Santorini's crescent to the far end is the most popular hike on the island. And no wonder.
Our Active Learning Classroom (ALC) is designed to support interactive and technology enhanced learning. It serves as an incubation space where faculty can implement and assess new teaching and learning ideas.
The classroom is capable of numerous configurations; with computer stations at each table and multiple wall-mounted screens. The purpose of the ALC is to offer active, engaged teaching and learning experiences in a collaborative environment.
