Europorte/ GBRF's Dyson 92044 "Couperin" sits on a CT intermodal dual flat at Frethun Yard, awaiting its signal.
Presume this was shunting a wagon needing attention.
Unfortunately, it was held at the signal until after we had to head for our Chunnel car service, so the "jailed look" photo was the only one available.
92044 was built by Brush Traction’s Falcon Works, Loughborough and delivered to BR on 30/03/1996 (Works No. 1100).
Grateful thanks to Ian Furness as usual for his detailed WNXX reports 😊 👍 🙏.
92044 was active with BR and then EWS, (later DB Schenker UK/ DB Cargo UK) after privatisation until 24/01/2001, when it was stored at Crewe EMD in the WNWX pool.
This was one of 7 “Eurostar” locos originally allocated for use by SNCF on night sleepers, (which never happened).
On 15/02/2007 it was confirmed Europorte had bough 92044 and 4 of the other SNCF Class 92s.
92044 was sent to Brush Traction, Loughborough for further storage around 15/06/2008.
92044 was sent through the Chunnel to France after 05/12/2008.
On 20/01/2009, all the Europorte Class 92s were allocated to the PTXX pool.
10 months later on 04/11/2009, 92044 was transferred to GBRF’s a new active Elok pool (GBRT). GBRF had a UK wide freight operating licence, so Europorte piggybacked off it.
Europorte’s parent Eurotunnel bought GBRF on 01/06/2010.
On 14/06/2010: “92028 92032 92038 92043 and 92044, the electric fleet, are now allocated to GBET - GBRf electric traction - as the pool code GBRT is now to be used for traction on restricted use” (again thanks to Ian Furness for this info 🙏.
In 2021, 92044 emerged from Brush after a major overhaul.
Unlike the rest of GBRF’s tunnel fleet, it retained its original two tone grey livery and name, but had the roundels on its sides removed.
15 years later in June 2026, 92044 still named “Couperin” is still with GBRF.

Grain elevators, Thunder Bay, Ont., 11 MAY'11: I remember viewing these from the CPR's "Canadian" one late evening in the mid-'80s, and how active they and the railroad yards around them were. It's a different scene now.
Minscape
Shot for Active Assignment Weekly. The topic of this week is Minscape, a made up word, not to be confused with manscaping.
So what you SHOULD take a picture of, is minimal landscapes.
WIT:
Driving into some local maize fields after heavy rain this morning, and climbing on top of the car to get a viewpoint. Crop to be more panoramic and very slight straightening.
An image of the active Fuego volcano cone in Guatemala on October 24. Waiting for the precise moment of lava eruption, a sequence of the comet was taken and the location that coincided with the volcano was sought some time after sunset.
It's magical to watch kids get ready for Halloween. Came across these boys at a Halloween party at the park, all from different families - Spidey never goes out of fashion.
WIT: Had the boys get together to play Spiderman. Took the shot. There was a parking lot in the background, so decided to blur the background to add to the action and magical feeling.
Dare: I usually don't try to impose too much on others for a picture, but had to talk to each of the 3 parents in order to recruit the boys to get together for the magical moment. Just couldn't pass it up.
Heading home to Ladner from Victoria (on Vancouver Island (Canada)) today, there was enough fog that a lookout was posted at the front of the ferry. I spent the first half of the trip with a 180mm lens capturing the wonderful bleakness/richness of the fog. It is the long weekend, so there were a lot of small craft about, livening up our trip.

Assignment:
You're assignment this week, if you choose to accept it, is to take your flash off camera. Now if you don't have off camera flash abilities, please feel free to be creative and using other lighting sources.
DARE: Your dare will be to use a long exposure (Include multiple flashes if you can).
I used a light tent with the flash on the outside top of the tent. Basic adjustments in LR and added a white vignette
Active Assignment Weekly: 19-26 Mar 2018: Awesome Alphabet

WIT: Cropped to square, straightened, applied a B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro, then re-read the rules and removed it, tried again with Colour Efex Pro 4.
Saturday brought Don Ashton and Picture this Photography to the Jacksonville Florida Westside as Pee Wee Football took center Stage! Stay #active with My9oh4 and LockedIN Magazine
Active Assignment Weekly - Junk.
Just couldn't think of anything for this week, and it's been a busy week at work as exam results came out. But found this a bit closer to home than I'd like. These two hub caps are in an alley way between houses on my street - they look like they've been burned out or something. The yellow flower is an Icelandic Poppy I believe. We had some in our garden ages ago and they appear to have spread their seeds all over the place!
WIT:
Just a minor contrast adjustment.

The Active Learning Center (ALC), formerly known as the ME-EM "Fishbowl." has been completely transformed into a technology-rich collaborative learning space, featuring 72 student computer stations, three instructor stations and 29 collaboration LCD monitors hung from the ceiling.
That coal-black island in the centre is Nea Kameni, Greece's only active volcano. It sits in the centre of the magnificent caldera, idly smoking and throwing occasional tantrums.
The 3-hour stroll along the caldera rim from the centre of Santorini's crescent to the far end is the most popular hike on the island. And no wonder.
Taken for AAW: Beautiful Mistake
As I drove into the parking garage at my office, there were two people casting great shadows in the early morning light blasting in here. I pulled over and got my camera out as fast as I could, but not fast enough. You can just barely make out the two people in the shadows to the right. SOOC.
Our Active Learning Classroom (ALC) is designed to support interactive and technology enhanced learning. It serves as an incubation space where faculty can implement and assess new teaching and learning ideas.
The classroom is capable of numerous configurations; with computer stations at each table and multiple wall-mounted screens. The purpose of the ALC is to offer active, engaged teaching and learning experiences in a collaborative environment.
