Stella was helping me wrap the last few gifts last night.
I get the distinct feeling that she will be happy when all this nonsense is over with, and she can have all her normal lounging spots back......free from holiday clutter!

In 2008 the artist Mark Wallinger produced a wrapping paper design that was given away with the Guardian newspaper. Mark has given me permission to use his design to create some new images to stimulate thought and reflection.
I have produced a series of four images which will be printed on postcards and distributed to every home in our parish.

Since I didn't get a working scanner again until 3 weeks after I had already packed away all my Xmas stuff, and waiting until it's time to pull it out and decorate to scan it all would mean delaying my usual decorating start time by a week (I have a LOT of crap), I drug it all back out and have been scanning it all non stop.
But for funsies, here's a sneak preview. I love getting ahead of schedule with anything, it really is one of my giddy pleasures. I already have most of my Halloween stuff scanned! The Valentines day stuff to be shared every day up until Feb 14th has all been scanned a week ago
Anyhoo, this was a 4 foot long section of wrapping paper found in some of my Grandmas old stuff, it was pretty brittle and crinkly, my mom ironed it gingerly
This is my favorite of my steamer trunk luggage gift wrap so far this year. I still have a lot to wrap, so I'm hoping I can improve more. I am so excited about the idea...I hope somebody likes what I'm going for at Christmas, lol. It's a little messy.

I enjoyed yesterday's shot so much that I just had to reuse the wrapping paper background again. BTW Ikea has the coolest wrapping paper designs!

Occasionally, the Target dollar spot sells this awesome wrapping paper. I've amassed quite a collection over the years, so I'm ready for gift giving at any moment. I especially like the short length of the rolls because I can easily store them in a drawer.

Hannaux was probably the most prestigious Department Store in Alexandria. I used to go shopping there with my mother.
Is this the only sample left in the world, dating from the 1940s?
It lines the drawer of the desk given to me by Harold Buckland, an Australian Airman we met at Sidi Bishr. He was an architect and designed this desk and the pencil/pen supports to go with it. I use them every day!

We've gotten A LOT of our Christmas shopping done already! We will avoid the crazy crowds, however I will be twiddling my thumbs for a month!
Two more days left to buy my new Christmas EP, "Snow Day." Go to mikedschmid.googlepages.com to get yours.
another one for the record books.... the most traditional looking present I think I've ever wrapped. But this year I wanted to use plaid ribbon.
so I did.
