If you have a lot of gifts to wrap, you should DEFINITELY invite your cats to help you out. They are very good at measuring with their whole bodies and don't even get me started on ow they can assist you with ribbons!

Crazy Tuesday - theme of November 3rd, 2020: Spiral
this is some fancy egg cup made of a metal spiral .... these egg cups are nice to look at, but impractical, because you can't put peeled egg shells into them ;))
Looks a bit like a Warp tunnel / hole, doesn't it ?
It would be nice to be able to get far far away with its help from time to time ...
HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday, everyone !

... diese Eierbecher sind zwar schön anzusehen, aber irgendwie unpraktisch, da man nie weiß, wohin mit der abgepellten Eierschale ;))
Einen schönen Dienstag euch allen !
As Christmas Day draws closer, it's very exciting to look at the wrapped gifts and to wonder what's inside each one. In fact, the excitement can sometimes become so intense that you can actually see it swirling around the gifts... 😄
Looking Close on Friday: "Wrapped Gifts" theme

Speaking of gifts, I wish the gift of a warm and festive holiday season to all of my Flickr friends, and a very Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Thanks for your comments and support throughout the year; it is very much appreciated!
For any who might be interested in how this image was made, by the way, I've added a brief description in the first comment box.
For 'Smile on Saturday', theme: gift wrapping material. I chose rolls of Japanese paper. So colourful.
I bet you can't see the one I wrapped.
Feliz Navidad. Joyeux noël. Happy Holidays. Frohe Weihnachten. And from The UK, Have a very merry Christmas.

Well I have not seen little Danbo out and about in some time. Word had it the Bears had him hidden away somewhere.
Well I think we have some good gift wrapping material here.
Smile on Saturday
... in case the title sounds a bit familiar to you:
yes, it's a nod to 'Hard Rock Cafe' ... and I am humming the song right now in my head ; ))

Bokeh Madness just for my own exuberant fun - after all that orderly arrangement last week I neeeeded some kind of crazy bubbly bokeh today : ))

I will be browsing later in the evening due to (crazy) work :)
Happy Crazy Tuesday - I hope, this is enough craziness for today ;D

Let's take off into a hopefully more joyful, carefree, healthy and happy 2022 !
Wishing you all the best ... please take care and stay safe
THANKS a lot for your great support and friendship in 2021 !
See you on the other side : ))

Einen schönen Dienstag Abend euch allen - und bleibt gesund !!

giving and receiving hugs :))
admittedly not so easy these days of Covid-19 safety precautions (and that horrid heat wave) ... but this fridge magnet my sister gave me a while ago makes me smile every time I look at it ;))
That's almost as good as a hug, don't you think ?! xo

Umarmungen

For Macro Mondays and Pick Two.
This week's Macro Mondays theme is to pick two, one from each list.
The colours:
Red
Blue
Yellow
Pink
The items:
Flower
Bottle Cap
Paper
Pen
...and combine them in a macro photo. This is a thin, cellophane-like, translucent paper that made folding difficult for me. All one hue, but the lights make it look like many.
About 4cm /1.5 inches across.
My husband prefers this one. He isn't keen on abstract or bokeh balls.
Thanks for looking.
It is now less than a week until the Coronation of King Charles III, and people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth move into the new Carolean Age.
Imagine my delight when I recently received my first Carolean Era stamp on a letter from a friend in Worcestershire, featuring His Majesty's profile. Not only was it interesting to see His Majesty in profile on a stamp, but also to note that this stamp makes a break in royal tradition, where the rule is that he should be facing in the opposite direction to his mother.
Whether Her Late Majesty liked rule breakers or not, I am sure she would be very proud of King Charles as he takes up the reigns of ruling and walks in his mother's footsteps, but decidedly to the beat of his own drum.

"I am very short-sighted, and if I don't like a situation I take my glasses off."
~ Jenny Eclair
This is a very wise advice IMHO : )
You should give it a try if you are shortsighted (like me) too. It's kind of working - at least for a while.
But don't drive without your glasses ; )))
I added textures (organic dirt / Analog Efex) as somehow my glasses are always dirty ...

The beautiful bow was tied from a single ribbon, it was done by a friend.
Even though this was given to me this beautiful song came to mind, Willie Nelson wrote it and he recorded, Roy Orbison sang the song first.
Both song versions bellow.

I have a lovely friend who is known to frequent charity and thrift shops looking for interesting bits and pieces for photography purposes. Often she sends me photographs of things she thinks I might like when she stumbles upon them, so I can say yes or no to them. Now, I collect many, many things, but dolls are not one of those, save for the occasional Russian matryoshka doll set, and even then they have to be special. Imagine my delight when one day she sent me a photograph of a beautifully hand painted and colourful Russian matryoshka doll set in yellows, reds and greens! I said yes to them, even though the set of five isn’t complete, with the third doll missing her top and the fourth missing her bottom. Nevertheless, that leaves three very pretty dolls whom I have enjoyed photographing over the last month.
The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 13th of July is “open day theme”, which is a theme without a theme. This means that the choice of subject is mine, must be new to Flickr and can’t be posted in any other groups prior to the closing of the group’s posting time of ten o’clock in the evening Central European Time. Since I have enjoyed photographing my new Russian matryoshka doll set, I thought I would put up a photograph of them. Here they are, setting off on a whirlwind world tour. Their wooden suitcases are packed and they have a plethora of destinations to visit. The suitcases, labelled with appropriately glamorous destinations, are from the 1950s and the background is a wonderful roll of paper printed with vintage labels from hotels and modes of transport from around the world. I hope you like my choice of the theme, and that it makes you smile.
This is not what I meant to post today. I had a plan actually, but my day was full of unexpected delays and I ran out of time and the goodwill of my PC.
Instead of the other thing I decided to use a homemade Christmas card as my project.
The card is in total 15 x 10 cm and the shown area about 4 cm in height.
Looking back this month means looking back over not just December, but the whole year.
2022 has been a hard year, and I suspect that many people will feel as I do, that it is a year I am pleased to see behind me. It has been a year of anxiety and stress, both globally, and within the UK.
With the pandemic 'over' but still very much with us - with the UK economy and political system in tatters - and with the death of the monarch who has reigned for as long as most of us can remember.
It has been hard to find a festive spirit this festive season. I confess I have taken more joy in the images I have created than in the reality of my December 2022! Yet again I turn to my cameras, and thanks to the Flickr challenges I have found a haven where I can forget the news, inflation, and the terrible plight of so many people wherever I look.
But whatever happens, I still find that for me a day without a camera to record something, however trivial, is a day lost. I've tried through December to use my vintage Helios lenses, and Lensbaby optics as much as I could ... but there are times also for the iPhone, the macro lenses and the 'pocket rocket' of the original Sony RX100.
Many thanks to everyone who has visited my photostream and for the comments and faves.
