Happy Valentine's Day Eve! :) I captured these hearts in a tree last week with a homemade bokeh filter.

It's a whole lot more dark and wintery in the woods now - especially when the fog rolls in. An atmospheric day, deep in the dark woodland at Ashridge.

......makes me aware winter is coming ..........sigh

Looking back while standing on the jetty I couldn't resist this natural composition with all the winter trees laid bare with the warm glow from the low suns they lead your eye towards the colours on the sheltered side of the loch.

This loch stretches for fifteen miles from the popular village of Killin to beautiful Kenmore, serene Loch Tay is at the heart of this area. On its north side are the mighty summits of Ben Lawers and its many satellites, whilst the south side is quieter and unfrequented. Aberfeldy - just to the east of Kenmore.

It looks like autumn has gone and winter is on the way

There are so many shots of this tree on my photo stream, but I think this is the first with snow.

I have been having a discussion with Mr Woolyboy about landscapes. You see he takes fantabulous ones ... and I don't. I always gravitate back to shots of detail, because that's what fascinates me. He suggested that when I look at a landscape, I try to find a 'section' of it to photograph rather than the widest angle I can get, as that might appeal more to my own particular style of photography. Turns out he was right - I like this little snippet of landscape much better than any of the wide angle shots I took that day. It has the simplicity I like in a shot. Thanks for the advice, Steve! :)

As with all snowy shots, it looks better on black - either click on the image or press the 'L' key on your keyboard.

I know it breaks rules about composition, with the horizon halfway across the picture, but I think I like it enough to use it as my entry for No.75 - Five Minutes from Home, in 112 in 2012.

There is still beautiful wintertime, but some changes coming soon at at 21strom in Second Life.

It's so easy to get a perfectly focused shot these days that sometimes I prefer it when a photo goes a little bit wrong.

I was puffing my way uphill in Fishguard in the rain this afternoon when (stopping for a quick breather) I looked up at these beautiful trees. Without thinking - I pointed the camera and clicked the shutter. Not until after did I look to see that the lens had steamed up. I love the effect!

To all flickr friends, I wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2013!!

A todos los amigos de flickr les deseo unas Felices Fiestas y un prospero año 2013.

Un abrazo a todos.

On the eve of the winter solstice...tomorrow being the shortest day of the year

Rural Dorset 20.12.2014

this wee tree is my favourite at Greencastle Golf Club. During the summer it's too leafy to get the sun behind it but once autumn and winter roll in the sun sets perfectly behind it.

I took this spur of a moment as I was walking into the grocery store (Sherm's Thunderbird). The tree was covered limb to limb and branch to branch with birds. Edited in Snapseed & Tangled FX 2.1 Custom 3 preset

Child Play....

The snow fell like millions of tiny feathers from the white colorless sky above, carried upon some invisible breeze; drifting this way and that as they fell towards earth...

The storm blew snow in clouds of white obscuring everything more than fifty feet away blending them into a blinding white haze.

In a playground not far from home. we spotted this little girl playing in the snow. she slid down the slide several times at one point stopped knelt down and drew pictures in the snow with her mitten. seemingly oblivious to our presence or to the frosty snow that soon covered her hat making it white instead of pale blue.

Thank you for visiting and for marking my photo as a favourite and also for the kind comments,

WINTER❄️

In Holland there are not that many snowy winters anymore. So that year we went also to Norway to have some snow. When we were there we heard that also in Holland there was a lot of snow❄️

But that didn`t matter when you wake up with such a view. Many years ago, but still a great winter memory🌞

Out sketching on a bitterly cold Sunday with our newly formed Ribble Valley Area Urban Sketchers. The weather was dire but there were occasional spells of sunshine amongst the hail and rain. Driving home it was snowing and by bedtime it was tick and silent on the ground

Yet another image from Breakneck Hill. I'm always walking up here and admiring the trees. Best on black.

We have had a snowstorm in Montreal areas yesterday and more snow is to come. So Winter dress code is necessary as it is below freezing outside and very slippery here@

The Bottom Part Are Spooky To Watch. So I Took The Steam Instead.

I took this before in winter which is one of my all-time favorite shots. So stopping here this time, I never intended to capture it again, focusing mostly on doing some closer shots with only pat of the tree. But then I thought, I should just do one just because of the fog. And it came out as an entirely unique shot. I will post links below to the old shot plus the close-ups.
