January, 2006 - Tail and winglet details of a relatively new (at the time) Embraer ERJ-170.

This aircraft was involved in a runway over-run incident during a snow storm at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport in Febuary, 2007. It was widely assumed that the aircraft would be written-off and was beyond repair. After replacing the engines and the entire fuselage forward of the wings the aircraft took to the skies again in November of 2007. She is affectionately referred to as "Frankenplane" by the Cleveland area aviation photographers (opshots.net).

I have seen this aircraft up-close since the repairs and can report that other than a small line visible around the fuselage (where the sections were joined together) - you can't tell the difference. If you didn't know what you were looking for, you'd never even notice.

Voula, our Montreal Airport Station Manager, took this classic winglet photo during her recent vacation, as she was approaching Las Vegas Airport.

These are wing tip extensions which reduce lift induced drag and provide some extra lift.
