14Apr2012, I am inflight KA937 enroute from ZBAA to VHHH. Flight took off from RWY01 of ZBAA at 0800L and after 1hour and 59 min I met the A380 of China Southern/CZ.

Sunwing Boeing 737-800 C-FTJH basks in the evening Dublin sunshine, about to operate to the sunnier climes of Ibiza, those lucky people. C-FTJH recently transferred over from Canada to Ireland for the summer 2014 season, working various flights out of Ireland to " hotspots " around Europe. Unknown to those lucky travellers, they will have reduced their carbon footprints on those sandy beaches in Ibiza even further, as this aircraft is fitted with the latest split Scimitar winglets, turning both the traditional upwards & now downwards as well.

One of the coolest looking fuel saving technologies to come out of aviation research and development are these Spiroid Winglets™. They were first flown on the Gulfstream II in 1993. Over the course of the next several years they were further developed & refined, and these updated versions were flown on a Falcon 50 in 2010 resulting in a drag reduction of nearly 11%. I have a set on my Mazda3 and am proud to say my drag reduction is through the roof!
