I'd driven past this field the evening before and saw the mist rising from the ground. I was unable to take the opportunity to get a shot but the following day the weather conditions were similar so I took a punt that the mist would be there again that evening.

Luckily it was, I took a few shots of the cows in the distance but as I made my way back to the car they started to approach and posed for a few more close up shots!

A View From Place Fell

Yesterday we took a wander up Place Fell which over looks Ullswater and gives great views all round. This is the view looking to Patterdale and Brothers Water, with some nice soft lighting.

The Relationship

The first winters snowfall at one of my fave locations not too far from Leadhills. As everyone knows I always love a lone tree, I have photographed this one before, but it is the relationship between this one and the group in the distance that makes the image for me...perhaps it says more about me and my photography:) who knows.

Wishing you all a happy new year! I've had a lovely Christmas holiday spending time with family and have not been out with the camera at all over the past two weeks! The break has been quite nice and the weather has been awful. I've been using free time to catch up with some jobs that have been needing done for a while, my tax return and updating my web site.

I wish you all the best for 2022... hopefully we will finally start to move toward the end of COVID but history tells us most pandemics hang around for 3-5 years so im prepared for a few more years of social distancing and mask wearing!

Photography wise my goal is just to keep shooting and learn to embrace and make the best of the conditions. I want to improve my PP skills by learning how to blend exposures better as I rarely do it and go for single shots mostly... and I want to try and enter the WEXMondays comp on Twitter... In terms of my shooting... I can rarely pick when I get free time to shoot so I just have to run with it... Hoping that just sometimes the light comes out to play and that is when the magic like this moment above happens... Here's to magic moments in 2022 for all of us! Best Wishes!

This is Loch En Eilein Castle in the Cairngorms National Park... 5 mins earlier it has been pouring down and I was about to give up! Then this happened!

Me and Baxter had a quick play around with my new Telesin 6" Dome Port yesterday. Quite pleased with the results, though I think the sea needs to be calmer and clearer next time.

Decided to go storm chasing down at St Mary's last night. Not long after this shot was taken the heavens opened and completely soaked me and my camera gear. I don't think my 6D has survived the ordeal! Now playing a waiting game whilst it dries out inside a box filled with uncooked rice. Hopefully it will live to shoot another day.

On a happier note it was great to finally meet Dave Brightwell, a photographer I have great respect for, go check out his profile his work is outstanding.

Another glorious January morning; a couple of fishermen on Great Pond. Good numbers of people about.

The S10 did an update earlier in the week and it looks like part of the update related to the camera; aspect ratio looks to have changed, I think I prefer the old version. Not sure but I suspect this option may be better for portrait mode.

A latish afternoon walk with my daughters dogs. The light, what little there was, was beginning to fade quickly by the time I had chance to take a shot.

A glorious April day, much better than the last few days which have been peppered with April showers. Lots of people about although more cars parked on the road than in the car-park.

The Watch House is a grade II listed building situated in the small village of Seaton Sluice on the Northumberland coast, UK. It dates from the 1880's where it was HQ of the Seaton Sluice Volunteer Life-Saving Company.

My 10th 52/52 project and it's back to Hardwick Park. I wasn't sure which area to pick so I went for a wander round yesterday taking a variety of shots and on returning home asked my wife to pick her favorite; she went for this shot of Great Pond; so it's Great Pond for the next 12 months.

A cloudy and generally overcast Friday afternoon with a few sunny intervals.

A rather dramatic black and white conversion using Silver Efex Pro2 on another grey and overcast day. I'm sure the weather forecast was for sunny intervals.

I very much like Williamthorpe Ponds and Nature Reserve but at this time of year it can be very challenging to get a worthwhile shot. With Ponds 1 and 2 it is difficult to get anything without having industrial units in view.

Here is my finished image from last nights trip to Blyth Beach. It's a 10 minute long exposure looking back towards Seaton Sluice and Whitley Bay. You can just make out St Mary's Lighthouse on the horizon to the right of the image.

A quick shot from the roadside on my return from Chesterfield earlier today after spending a few days at Port Mulgrave near Whitby.

A lovely sunny and pleasantly warm Good Friday. Weather looks good for the Easter weelend until Monday when it all goes down hill.

After spending more time on this one I finally like it and it's now my favourite from my images taken last weekend! Think I might have to go back soon, kicking myself I didn't process this in time for wexmondays.

Dull, grey and overcast for the 1st of February. Only four weeks until spring.

Lindisfarne Castle in the distance with a fisherman's hut in the foreground. Old fishing boats on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, upturned and recycled to become fisherman's huts; you could say recycling taken to it's limits!

Bored, bored, bored, bored. Horrible weather today, rain, rain, rain. Not even stormy rain, boring grey rain!

Only one real option for me and that was to try a bit of still life and practice some lighting skillz! Went to Pocklington to find some inspiration and the veg shop had some superb looking cherries, taste good as well, apparently. Also picked up a poinsettia for good measure. As I was setting up the shot I noticed reflection of the plant was accidentally being picked up by the black gloss tile, it works really well with the cherry.

Placed an Elinchrom D-Lite 400 with softbox to the left hand side, shooting though a translucent umbrella and another translucent screen to diffuse the light further. I placed a piece of card to the right hand side to light the cherry on this side a little. Finally I masked off the tile with kitchen role and sprayed a mixture of glycerin and water onto the cherry to create the 'condensation'

This final image is 3 shot focussed stack.
