After taking this shot it reminded me of a wonderful song by the great Joan Armatrading ... just had to go and listen to it!!

7 Days of Shooting Week #32 Love or Loathe Black and White Wednesday ....

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

Nothing like a little rain to get a favorite local waterfall flowing just the way I like it.

I got my second tattoo yesterday. It took three hours and I was tearing up at the end of it! The coloring hurt so much. He asked if I wanted to come back when it was healed to do it but I just wanted to get it over with! I was practically whimpering. I'm sort of a baby. More detailed shot in the comments.

I decided I want this to be my 52 weeks instead.

This gorgeous old dog belongs to a young friend. It follows him everywhere! Like all dogs Cossie likes company and will walk great lenghths across their farm to follow the activity...

I only wish my daughters had a dog when they were growing up...

For the second year in a row, I attended the Seymour, WI "Hot Air Balloon Rally" (and Hamburger Festival). And...for the second year in a row...the ascension of the first balloon gave me chills on an otherwise hot day. These things absolutely fascinate me! I would be terrified to ride in one, since thin fabric and wicker seem to be the only thing keeping these buggers afloat. It's a delightful mystery to me!

My dream hot air balloon shot would be taken laying on my back, photographing the balloon and basket from below as it ascends skyward. Unfortunately, entering the launch field wasn't permitted until all balloons returned to the site after their flights and were secured. So...as the sun set, we were given the "go ahead" to approach the balloons, check out the rigging and speak with the pilots.

I entered the area with my fish-eye lens, set my butt on the ground and pointed my camera skyward to get this shot.

Adding my child-like fascination for these amazing flying vehicles to the weekly folder.

Barn in Mooresville NC at sunset - the cows wouldn't pose for me and the sun was hiding.

Shot in HDR 12 photos, merged to 4, merged to the panoramic. While not technical, or aesthetically perfect, it was a first for me. All done in Lightroom CC.

Today is my day off, and I always try to do some food photography - although the sun really wasn't co-operating, so I used a gold reflector - and added a warming filter in pp.

Anyway, I combined food photography and rule of thirds - for the Project. The open pea pod is in the rule of thirds.

On New Year's Day 2015 around 4:30pm, 2 pods of Transient Orcas - the T137s and T036/T036Bs - swam by Anderson Island at sunset. - Taken from Anderson Island, WA's on the south east tip of the island, looking out from Oro Bay

I met up with a model who also somewhat of a nerd and gamer, so we thought it would be fun to do a gamer girl oriented shoot. The owner of the local arcade, 1984, was happy to let us shoot inside, which was awesome.

This week has been miserable weather! It's the middle of August - we're supposed to be out taking photos, walking around in flip-flops but no - it's pouring it down! I though this photo explains the week: waiting inside looking out the window for the rain to stop!

I must confess I don't like seaweed and especially when it's lying at the edge of the sea all slimy and wet!!

Forget about sticking to your normal routine today since your key

planet Venus is buzzed by high-strung Uranus. You may even feel as if

you're going crazy, but rest assured it's just that the energy is a

bit unstable now. Let restrictive structures and unhealthy assumptions

fall away without resistance. Resume your regularly scheduled

activities once the dust settles.

For the 52 Weeks for Dogs expression challenge. Gracie has a most expressive nature, always letting us know exactly what's on her mind. I love that about her. This is her gentle scolding expression, telling me she loves me but that the camera seriously needs to get out of her face so she can chase squirrels undisturbed.

Caribbean Pirates’, 2001-05. Performance, video, installation, colour photographs.

Paul McCarthy is known for his raw, visceral work. McCarthy's work often involves what looks like fecal matter, blood and mucus. He believes we're taught to be disgusted by ourbodily fluids. He sees our disgust as related to a fear of death. His use of body fluids is contrasted with the antiseptic fixation on hygiene that he ascribes to Walt Disney whom he sees as the ultra-right-wing creator of Disneyland. The project Caribbean Pirates’ is inspired by one of Disneyland’s most popular attractions – Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s this world of innocence in entertainment industry which meets the eye, only it’s not innocent any more. Caribbean Pirates’ deals with brutality, sexual perversity and degradation. Pirates (and soldiers?) rape, torture and plunder out of sight of the constructed, civilized society we believe we are. The amount of blood and the focus on brutality and violence draws endless parallels to the political world scene. Paul McCarthy's pirates, sows and filthy puppets are a parodic comment on art, film - and in a wider sense on empire-building in old as well as present day history.

The installation is almost unbearable, especially the videos. You have to keep in mind that it’s all mayonnaise and Heinz ketchup.

If you can take it and stay on to watch it, you’ll see the humour, black and grotesque admittedly, but still humour. Still, this show may be hard to deal with even when you muster all your intellectual and analytic skills and reminding yourself of Heinz ketchup.
