Plug me Back in!!!
Finally got power back last night, after 7 days without it... still very limited cell phone service at home, and no Internet... but in reality we were extremely lucky compared to others who were hit by this storm, and for that I am quite grateful.

this night is flawless.
Happy New Year all!! Hope 2012 brings everything you wish for! I had a fantastic start to 2012, i hope that my year continues as it started.
Starting a 52 week project as well, 52 photos, 52 weeks, looking forward to it. I'm hoping it will help me grow as a photographer and get me to take more photos, so we'll see! oh and i got a 50mm for christmas, yayyy!
[27th December-1st January]
Bris in the snow. Already 2ft deep in my yard and we're expecting another nor-easter tonight. I'm missing the five heat waves from this summer but I do love the look of clean snow

It was on this day that the Dragon Wizards false prediction actually came true for Liam was now a true hero who had saved us all and his friends! Liam the mime was now Liam the Hero!
Very challenging week in trying to get a focus-stacked insect. Summer is over so my choice was limited. I did find a grasshopper but he was too active and you need subject to be completely still. So found this dead fly which suited.
Image is made up of 42 shots with my Canon 50mm reversed onto my Sigma 105mm Macro. I used Canon's EOS Utility program to control focusing and stacked the results in Zerene Stacker.
Week 11's theme is Technology and this is a shot of an 8gb memory stick for my old Macbook Pro which was brand new in 2012 and did me proud for nearly a full decade. I did upgrade the ram to 16gb, popped in a 500gb ssd to extend it's life and it finally died when the battery became swollen and cracked the trackpad! So, salvaging the ram and the photo is on the new macbook air :-) Seems fitting.
What even is this, this is so embarrassing. :(
It's been snowing non-stop here, it's crazy. I get so jealous that some provinces have no snow at the moment. Like get out.
My page setup looks horrible right now, considering the fact that I have two Starbucks cups on it.
Please, take my apologies. Next week will for sure have a better photo.
This is Week 5. 5/52
I am a little smitten with this photograph, I have days where I cannot believe how beautiful she really is <3
The pathway to Fisherman's Warf in Victoria, BC provided some nice curves for this weeks theme. It was a stiff competition for this week's pictrure...Curves are everywhere.
I think I actually got a bit bigger this week and have also gotten comments from strangers about my pregnancy! :)
15th January - 21st January
running away
The semester is almost over and I'm feeling a little more relaxed than usual and it's pretty nice. I started to make plans for the holiday I'll have in two weeks and I can't wait to see the places I want to.

-2nd light, Elinchrom D-lite4, power f3.6, positioned in the back of the model, with Rotalux octa 135cm.
A simple setup here, and works well! I played on the terms of the model, a typical fashion / beauty and other natural, thank you Steve for having distracted héhé! For treatment, I tried the technique of Dodge & Burn, I am satisfied with the result, in the end it is simply assertions ... with practice of course ^^

Didn't have lots of inspiration for this week's theme, but the first thought that came to my mind was the saying "Love is never having to say you're sorry". Which is weird, because I couldn't disagree more with this. I have hurt people I love many times, and never because I didn't love them. I think on the contrary, love IS being sorry, love is being hurt more than you hurt the person you love, just because you're the reason they're hurt. And most of all, love is being capable of saying "I'm sorry".

Week 7: Love is
During my shoot with Vanessa I looked at her and said, "You're my week two". I did an edit of this but I liked the original better anyways

CC Welcome.
My second attempt at capturing the beauty of my beautiful, pregnant girlfriend. Shot in our kitchen and then cloned out the not-quite black background to get this low-key image. Added the frame to place the focus more on the tummy than on the face.
Strobist info: A SB-28 with a shoot-through umbrella pointed down on the belly and another SB-28 through a straw snoot from the back (standing on the kitchen table).
I decided last week since I am now into the last thirteen weeks of this self portrait series I should really go all out to create excellent work. I hope I can pull it off. I've had it in mind for awhile to shoot myself in my red coat, with umbrella, down at the ocean in some way and chose today to do it.
A note on the title: this isn't about any personal contemplation I am doing. It just seemed like the appropriate title for the shot.
These are our deceptively cute puppies on their 4th week. There is trouble in those little eyes! ; )
Year X Week 44 27/10-3/11/19
Although these shots were taken a week earlier, I was suffering from a case of camera fatigue after the trip.
Anyway, this was taken at Caesars Palace at Journey's residency at the Colosseum. What a concert, what a band and what a voice. Also loved it when the usher says "Don't stop believing" as he collects your ticket. More soon... faithfully.
This week's theme is Winter/Summer (depending on which part of the world you live in!) What a shame it wasn't while the snow was on the ground!
I was going to take a picture of my hat, gloves, scarf etc, but settled on this bare tree instead!
Boomer and Genna sharing some H2O after a run through the woods and meadows.
52 weeks for dogs. These shots are SOOC.

22/52: Shimamui Coast
August 26 - September 1
This coast chosen as one of Japan's 100 best shores and it is a part of Shakotan Peninsula in Shiribeshi, on the west coast of Hokkaidō, Japan.
It is a mountainous peninsula which projects some 30 kms into the Sea of Japan. The Shakotan Peninsula forms part of the Niseko Shakotan Otaru Kaigan Quas- National Park.
From the car park, there is a narrow dark tunnel to get to the look out point and from there you can see the coast line from the top. There are stairs to get to the bottom and it is only 5-10mins walk.
The only sad thing about this place was rubbish...
If you are interested....

what a week. there have been highs and there have been some pretty nasty lows. all in all, i'm just realy glad that the weekend is here and i am determined to spend it pampering myself and being nice to my doggie.
I was on a photo walk yesterday to Glendalough House in Co. Wicklow. I didn't expect to get a shot for 'Sport' week there. However, I spotted these out riding in the distance. I would have liked that they were a bit closer to me but when I uploaded the shot last night, I quite liked the overall scene and the position of the horses as they traverse the brow of yonder hill :-)
This is Tómas Guðmundsson who agreed to be week 2 for this project. He is 23 years old and lives in Reykjavik. This shot is not at all how I know Tómas, he is usually very cheerful and a fun guy, always fooling around and being goofy.
Well, earlier that week my back locked up (has NEVER done that before, guess I am getting old or something...) and I was in some pain when I shot this and a pretty foul mood. I thought I´d try to capture the complete opposite of what he normally portrays so I told him to stare at me like he was a serial killer who really didn´t care at all about me, just as long as I got out of his way. Think he emits that very well with his eyes.
Henny came along for the shoot and did the makeup, just put dark eyeshadow on his face, both light on all of it for the texture and then put the stripes on the same way.
Lighting is just two lights, one softbox from the front and another one placed behind him and above set very low for some hairlight. Post processing was almost no spot editing except for some dodge/burn and then just b/w conversion, sepia toning and curves for contrast.
series of images exploring texture. Starting from further way with a shot of the whole subject in frame and progressing closer, looking at the timber cladding in various stages of wear.
gosh, one week late!
i tried to work with curves and textures. not sure about this.
it's another shot from this day.

Mh, that week was good. I had to go to the kindergarten because of social work for school. it was fun, but also very exhausting. :) They are so cute, I think I'll miss them. On Saturday I met some friends and on Sunday we watched the football game between Germany & Australia (yeeah, Germany won) and I took some photos with a friend. :) _______________________________
