It's finals week. I really feel like schools shouldn't do this to people. I feel like I may have heart problems when it's over.

Good news is it's SO close to Christmas break. Which to me means an entire MONTH without class! I can't wait! :)

*Also, I have a question for you guys. If I did a print giveaway, would anyone enter? I wouldn't want to do one and only have 3 people enter... So, let me know if you're interested. If enough people are, I'll do one. :)

Construction, Week 38

Here's that promised shot of the store construction as seen earlier this afternoon, from an angle seen many other afternoons, most recently three weeks ago. Again, the only visible progress appears to be over at the pharmacy drive-thru frame-up. Maybe it's a good thing I'm taking a couple weeks off from new pictures in this regard...

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

Theme of The Week - Family Heirloom

My Dad's Grandfather was a farmer. He made little cabins in the winter when there was nothing else to do. We have 3 of the cabins, a tobacco barn, and a wheat field.

Great-Grandpa said one of his cabins was in the Missouri History Museum... that may or may not be true.

I don't do New Years Resolutions in general. So, for this week's photo, I thought about something big that would happen in our family in 2012. Something like... potty training our almost 3-year-old.

A great action shot from tubing on the weekend... Our last weekend with our International Student. We will miss him!!

Texture refers to the visual quality of the surface of an object. Texture brings life and vibrancy to images that would otherwise appear flat and uninspiring. Think about light

52 Weeks for Dogs Group Challenge -- Photo Bomb

Po does think that every photo should include her. And where are the cookies anyway?

A link to a few more shots of her photobombing mugging for the camera:

this week's assignment was all about finding unique vessels for flowers...capturing the last of the lilacs and the first of the lavender

Looking down the Charles River toward the Weeks Bridge. It connects Harvard's Cambridge side (left) to its Boston side (right) and is only for pedestrians. Dunster House (red dome) and Peabody Terrace are Harvard residences.

This wacky little girl and her equally wacky siblings have my heart and soul. I love them from the tops of their head to the soles of their feet!

Week 2- My Front Door

What I like about my front door is that it's over 100 years old and it's full of imperfections--from dust on the bevels (Hey, I live in windy, dusty Kansas!) to paint on the metal, it's full of charm.

Theme of The Week - Dear Photograph

Some things change, some things stay the same.

Just a few of my hats stacked on a chair. Thanks everyone! I used Topaz Adjust for the processing.

Almost 39 weeks now.

We went to our first ante-natal class about a month ago and never came back.. I was okay with it but Niki was appalled by the matter of fact approach and how we were constantly reminded of pain and tearing and all the things that can go wrong… We felt if things do go wrong, we will trust ourselves to doctors who are there to give us the best treatment. We certainly do not want to be shocked into it.

So, we took up an alternative approach called Calmbirth. In the US, I believe it is called Hypnobirth. I came into the class expecting Niki to be hypnotised into a pain-free birth. However, the classes were very educational in explaining how the body behaves through labour and how the mother can calmly do controlled breathing to managed the discomfort (note: the word pain should never be used, when you are asked how painful, you will focus on the pain..).

Well, we’ll see how this approach goes soon I guess. For Niki, this is a more acceptable approach to labour and I believe a more encouraging one.

As for me:

I have been in hibernation for a little while now and obviously have not done much photography. The last several months of change - moving cities, changing jobs and preparing our household for a new member.. preparing to be a family for the first time.. Well, I hope you can understand photography is slipping to the side for a bit. I hope to rectify that now we've settled down in our little town on the border of Melbourne - this is quite a beautiful place and there are so many opportunity for beautiful photography here. Plus.. there's going to be plenty of baby photos coming up.. Still, I may squeeze in the odd artistic nude photography when I get the time to.

My husband loves to buy hats when we travel and this is a very small portion of his collection. He has been known to buy 6-8 different ones in the same location because he can't choose between them!

I found this collection quite difficult to photograph, I had 50 of them laid out on the table but resorted to capturing just a few to try and make it interesting.

Week 8 (v 12.0) - for the boots, anyway

Going to do my best to do a 52 weeks of Cooper. Just to see how much he grows and changes over his first year!

Haven't decided if it will be the same overhead shot or just a different shot each week.. thoughts?

let the adventure begin!

Week 1 (v 11.0) - cold comfort

Theme of The Week - What is it?

What it is... book stand

I was a little unsure where I was as sat nav had taken me across country to avoid the motorway jams. I think I was on the yellow brick road.

I don't normally use my phone for taking photos to upload. but yesterday I was driving to Burton in the wet and stopped at traffic lights. There was a lovely rainbow, hard to see but it was a double rainbow. I managed to grab a photo. Not the best but this is straight out of the camera.

Totally supernatural inspired.

This is my first week in a project 52 that is completely based on my selfish needs and desires as a human and photographer. The topics are simple and easy. Rather than shoot my kids or some pretty model that is supposed to reflect my 'soul,' I chose to photograph myself.

Here I am selling my soul to the internet. Here I am doing what I do every single day of my life. Rather than go out and do something real, I spend my days seeking approval and contentment from a glowing computer screen. My soul is digital and it drives me insane.

I'm on a mission to complete the 52 week photo challenge, to capture at least 1 photo a week for a whole year.

oh my goodness slaines face made me laugh so much :) do you think she's having fun ;)

ok, so this is how my week went:

mon: had a customer ask me if we sold stick on eyebrows!! erm, what the hell?!.....

tues: someone asked me if they could put savlon on their teeth.... dear god!!

had a weird dream i was frying fingers (complete with fingernails), and it smelt really bad, had to open doors and windows to get rid of the smell. then thought what the hell am i doing, i cant let alex eat them so threw them in the bin and cooked him bacon, but i didnt wash the pan so his bacon was cooking in finger juices!! out of the whole dream, the fact i didnt wash the pan is what bothered me the most hehe :) i think ive been reading too many 'colder' comics ;)

1 week until slipknot!!!!!!! wooooooooooo!!!!!

weds: day off :) :) went for breakfast with christina, nathaniel, charlie and jordan, the went to see 'taken 3' with Christina and Nathaniel :)

thurs: nannys for breakfast :) :)

thought id found a new vein in my foot....

fri: work :( went pretty quickly though :)

sat: pizza saturday hehehehe :) reading the new walking dead comic :)

sun: took slaine for a run around on the moors in the snow, she loved it (although probably not as much as me ;)

Some unexpected extras from TMC week. Very special prints, brand spanking new, of course. Some heads/helmets may have been swapped from another minifig, what you see is what you'll receive. Would love to trade for something I don't have (Russian/German WWII only). Otherwise, offer strictly in FM. I'm in the USA.

It has been about 3 years so thought I would revisit something I used to love doing! Bit rusty with the first few shots especially with my 'whatever I could find around the house' set up.

Each shot is so different and you can make out some pretty cool things in the smoke!

**SOOC = Straight Out OF Camera**

Day 6 of sooc week and I decided to grab the camera and take random shots. Here is what I came up with. 1 more day to go until I can get back to my sweet sweet Photoshop.

For those of you who want the backstory about sooc week...

I am a graphic designer and I have to say I am extremely obsessed with processing my photos. This week series is me trying to not to use any photo editing not even cropping. I must say already waiting 10 minutes for uncropped/unoptimize photos to load is already annoying LOL.

Week 6.

The lights behind the hill. Stary night.
