Mh, that week was good. I had to go to the kindergarten because of social work for school. it was fun, but also very exhausting. :) They are so cute, I think I'll miss them. On Saturday I met some friends and on Sunday we watched the football game between Germany & Australia (yeeah, Germany won) and I took some photos with a friend. :) _______________________________

{22/52}

only 30 weeks left

On 27 September 1942 the SS Lulworth Hill left her home port of Hull. Only two from her thirty nine crew would see home again. The Lulworth Hill joined a convoy, off the coast of Scotland, protected by the British Royal Navy. Her first destination was Brazil. Within hours the convoy was attacked by a German submarine pack and four ships sunk. The Lulworth Hill reached Brazil in twenty eight days. Her second stop was Cape Town and then on to Alexandria to deliver a cargo of aircraft parts, high explosives and bombs for the Africa campaign. From Alexandria it was on to Mauritius to pick up a cargo of food stuff. She was then ordered home without the expected navy escort.

On 19 March 1943 the SS Lulworth Hill was attacked and sunk by the Italian submarine Leonardo Da Vinci off the coast of W Africa. Fourteen of the thirty nine crew made it to a life raft (one crew member was taken POW by the submarine) the rest were assumed lost.

With very little food and water, one by one, the fourteen survivors succumb to starvation and dehydration. After 50 days adrift Kenneth Cook and Colin Armitage were picked up by HMS Rapid on 7 May 1943. Frank Weekes (my uncle), engineers mate, died at 6 pm on 17 April 1943 (Day 29).

Water Colour on Paper.

30 Weeks have passed and this has honestly been one of the most heartfelt projects I've taken on. It's intimate, but not in the way you'd think. Intimate in that I've gotten to know Em on a close level as she opened herself to capturing her changes, her emotions, her overall self the past few weeks. As someone who currently has no interest in having kids this has been a fascinating thing to explore and partake in.

Model - Ember LaFuze

My first (long) week of Me-Made May is finished! My pledge was to wear Canadian designers this week, which ended up including:

- 4 pairs of Closet Case Files Ginger Jeans

- 1 dress with a CCF Nettie bodice

- 3 Sewaholic Renfrew mods, none of which are recognisably Renfrews

-1 Jalie hoodie (I also sewed another one this week, but it got too hot to wear it!)

- 3 Jalie raglans

- 1 In-House pattern Kimono tee, which I made this week

- Ohhh Lulu undies almost every day!

I did repeat the jeans more than once, though I still have one pair I didn't wear... and supplemented with one or two RTW or designed-elsewhere items. Not bad though - now on to European designers for the next week!

Week 37: "Portrait: Fashion"

Rachel's always wearing something cute! One of my most fashionable friends

This my dad George. He'll be 91 next month. He's completely "with it", lives alone, is very independent and gets annoyed if I want to help him do anything !

In the RH photo I bounced the flash of the wall to the right (his left), to try something different.

There is no post processing other than the vignette to block out the background a bit.

I drive by this little church frequently in the valley that I live in and am reminded of my faith in Jesus by these crosses.

I have a huge pillow in my bed in this is the pillow case for it.

Theme Of The Week - Dragan effect

I love deep black and whites, theres something so emotive about them. This is just simply my baby contemplating her next move :O)

Effortless B&W, Rich deep matte, Feather Haze, Soft Deep Eges

I'm a little late, sorry.

This is for the Thankful theme at 52 in 2013. I am very thankful for my family and this picture is definitely a family affair. These are two shots of my sister and me (she's the cute one with the longer hair). I'm including the one of the right because it is the one we are replicating. Cathy took that shot in *cough*1984*cough*. The one on the left is my actual shot for the week. Laura and her husband came to visit for the holiday and we had a great time. Cathy helped with wardrobe and Chris helped with direction in recreating the old shot. I'm so thankful for them all and that we are all still around to do such a thing and have such fun together.

Please note that the boxes holding the albums are the very same boxes from 30 years ago!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I tried a quick self-portrait with my instax, but it didn't really work. So I spent a rainy afternoon looking through the set of landscapes I've taken with it, which really work quite well.

June 27- July 3

I've been wanting to do a candle photo shoot for awhile now, and here it is! Summer definitely makes me put this project off, so I'm a few weeks behind. I can't believe it's already July. I'm having the best time with my sister. So this was a fun long exposure shoot, and I love how it turned out. I've been working a lot at a job I hate. Lifeguarding at a water park. It is becoming unbearable, especially during the week long heat wave of 100+ degrees. And rude guests. Urggg, hopefully this time next year I'll be interning somewhere.

This photo is extra funny because I do actually have a twin, but this is me x2, I promise.

I wish flickr wouldn't tell me how many views each photo has. It makes me feel like poo.

Finally got round to sorting out my last photos from for my photo a week project last year! Had some issues with broken computer and receiving a new camera so got a bit behind.

You can check out the full set here - Project52. This was a lot less stressful than the "photo a day" project a few years ago!

Now this belly is getting round!! I love my belly!

22 weeks! Getting bigger and getting heavier!

Unfortunately, getting more sore too!

The great part though is how well I can feel moving, kicking, and rolling!

I didn't the baby would get bigger and stronger that quickly!

03/52: Revenge of Conan

April 15th - 22nd

For this week it was kind of difficult to get a good idea for this project, and since I'm not artistic in the least I decided to use one of my kats; Conan the Barbarian.

She's actually quite sweet and still a kitten. However, I had her in the natural light of the veranda windows and kept trying to get a clear shot of her eye.

I finished the shoot and because she kept moving, most of the shots were blurry and not at all what I wanted, but since we had a live show that night, I couldn't stick around waiting for her to sit still.

So... I figured I'd just use one of those shots, got show ready and headed out on my bike to the venue. After getting home quite late after our show, I slept on it and woke up not at all happy with the shots!

Poor Conan was used again. This time, I blackmailed her with fish while Ninja, my black Kat, watched from the sidelines.

This time was heaps better! Shutter speed, aperture, lighting, focus and she was much more into it.

Thankfully there were heaps to choose from, but this was the one that seemed so out of character for her and full of emotion; and because of that, I went for it. I'm so glad that I didn't settle. There's still a lot of learning and a lot of practice to go before I get anywhere as good as D-Chan.

Here's to hoping you guys had a great weekend!!!

40 weeks!

Olympus E-3 with Leica 25mm/1.4 lens.

Strobist: FL-50 Speedlight fired via Pocket Wizards into 42" umbrella, camera left.

Can't wait to show him what his name was going to be if he was a girl. :)

Forty eight - Week Number Project - 48-DVSC08936a

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair...my 3.5 year old has never had a haircut and is quite happy about it! She is the age where princesses, unicorns and all things fairytale are real and she thinks cutting hair would make her a little bit less of a princess. Who am I to take that away?

: )

Well this week was definitely the week for dslr owners, dof no bother to them. Trying to get any decent dof with a fully auto p&s was trying, very trying!! :-). Anyway narrowed it down to 6 shots, presented them to my focus group and this one came out on top:-)

Check out all 6 of this weeks contenders in my set Week #4 - DOF and let me know if I chose the right one!

Second Life 52 Weeks of Color Challenge.
