Almost 39 weeks now.

We went to our first ante-natal class about a month ago and never came back.. I was okay with it but Niki was appalled by the matter of fact approach and how we were constantly reminded of pain and tearing and all the things that can go wrong… We felt if things do go wrong, we will trust ourselves to doctors who are there to give us the best treatment. We certainly do not want to be shocked into it.

So, we took up an alternative approach called Calmbirth. In the US, I believe it is called Hypnobirth. I came into the class expecting Niki to be hypnotised into a pain-free birth. However, the classes were very educational in explaining how the body behaves through labour and how the mother can calmly do controlled breathing to managed the discomfort (note: the word pain should never be used, when you are asked how painful, you will focus on the pain..).

Well, we’ll see how this approach goes soon I guess. For Niki, this is a more acceptable approach to labour and I believe a more encouraging one.

As for me:

I have been in hibernation for a little while now and obviously have not done much photography. The last several months of change - moving cities, changing jobs and preparing our household for a new member.. preparing to be a family for the first time.. Well, I hope you can understand photography is slipping to the side for a bit. I hope to rectify that now we've settled down in our little town on the border of Melbourne - this is quite a beautiful place and there are so many opportunity for beautiful photography here. Plus.. there's going to be plenty of baby photos coming up.. Still, I may squeeze in the odd artistic nude photography when I get the time to.

Fruit Bowl

I decided to see what choosing a different colour would look like. think it would have worked better if i had spread out the colours more to give a better cover of colour across each image.

I was a little unsure where I was as sat nav had taken me across country to avoid the motorway jams. I think I was on the yellow brick road.

I don't normally use my phone for taking photos to upload. but yesterday I was driving to Burton in the wet and stopped at traffic lights. There was a lovely rainbow, hard to see but it was a double rainbow. I managed to grab a photo. Not the best but this is straight out of the camera.

The rose nearly died in winter last year but now it's grown back.

This is Mia. She came to live with us five years ago when she was about six years old and she has made us laugh and smile every day since she got here. I always thought that siamese cats were aloof but she is very lovable and a bit of a clown. She is mainly an indoor cat but she likes to be taken out to check out her estate (our tiny yard).

This is my first week in a project 52 that is completely based on my selfish needs and desires as a human and photographer. The topics are simple and easy. Rather than shoot my kids or some pretty model that is supposed to reflect my 'soul,' I chose to photograph myself.

Here I am selling my soul to the internet. Here I am doing what I do every single day of my life. Rather than go out and do something real, I spend my days seeking approval and contentment from a glowing computer screen. My soul is digital and it drives me insane.

finally getting around to uploading last weeks pic

well, not much to report, had a shit week work wise, started looking for a new job. had enough now.

oh my goodness slaines face made me laugh so much :) do you think she's having fun ;)

ok, so this is how my week went:

mon: had a customer ask me if we sold stick on eyebrows!! erm, what the hell?!.....

tues: someone asked me if they could put savlon on their teeth.... dear god!!

had a weird dream i was frying fingers (complete with fingernails), and it smelt really bad, had to open doors and windows to get rid of the smell. then thought what the hell am i doing, i cant let alex eat them so threw them in the bin and cooked him bacon, but i didnt wash the pan so his bacon was cooking in finger juices!! out of the whole dream, the fact i didnt wash the pan is what bothered me the most hehe :) i think ive been reading too many 'colder' comics ;)

1 week until slipknot!!!!!!! wooooooooooo!!!!!

weds: day off :) :) went for breakfast with christina, nathaniel, charlie and jordan, the went to see 'taken 3' with Christina and Nathaniel :)

thurs: nannys for breakfast :) :)

thought id found a new vein in my foot....

fri: work :( went pretty quickly though :)

sat: pizza saturday hehehehe :) reading the new walking dead comic :)

sun: took slaine for a run around on the moors in the snow, she loved it (although probably not as much as me ;)

okay, the title has nothing to do with the picture, but i couldn't stop singing, "they call me mellow yellow..." as i was editing it. lol!!

it has been a busy couple of weeks, a busy summer really, and the dogs and i were long over-due for a quiet evening at home... just relishing in that magical time when the sun starts to go down and the slightest breeze picks up and the day is finally bearable for a few minutes. i liked how the sun was hitting these trees across the road and making everything glow in fall colors. something caught june's eye and she stood here for quite a long time, just watching.

Some unexpected extras from TMC week. Very special prints, brand spanking new, of course. Some heads/helmets may have been swapped from another minifig, what you see is what you'll receive. Would love to trade for something I don't have (Russian/German WWII only). Otherwise, offer strictly in FM. I'm in the USA.

I used green watercolor pencils to accent parts but when I ran my wet brush over it hoping to smear the green around a little bit, I only smudged the gel pen. So, my whole page is grey now (greyer than the pic shows). Oh well......I meant to do that. LOL

Week 11 of my 52 week self portrait challenge

Week 47 (v 4.0) - you'll require a heat source

2 - Week Number Project - 02-DVSC03289a

Happy Monday! Week 2, year 2 of my bullet journal and lots of lovely new pens and tape for Christmas to help keep up momentum. Samuel is ill again unfortunately, so we're now on day 3 of being confined to the house. Even with the wind and rain lashing the windows, cabin fever is definitely threatening.

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!!

Week 2- My Front Door

What I like about my front door is that it's over 100 years old and it's full of imperfections--from dust on the bevels (Hey, I live in windy, dusty Kansas!) to paint on the metal, it's full of charm.

On the sample I have stitched chain and then twisted chain to demonstrate the component parts of the stitch. Then, both the barred and alternate barred variety. Then I had a bit of fun working out other variations. You can sit or hang anything on those arms. I tried it on the letters and finally as an edging of an applique. Once you built up a bit of speed I think it would be a good applique edging.

sorry for the late upload but i had a lot to do for school this week. i really hate it..

tomorrow i'll have to work at the school dance as a photographer. actually i like that but we don't get paid and we don't even get sausage in our rolls :D

let me repeat what they said: of course you get something to eat. we have one roll for everyone of you but if you want sausage in it you have to bring it yourself.

what? :D

anyways i hope it will be fun. haha

Week 1 (v 11.0) - cold comfort

Wow! It's like spring right now!...but wait it's January?!

This week is so busy and I really don't have time for anything...exept today a little bit..have to work so much for school.

Anyway, I bought myself an iPhone 4s last week and do you know what? It's AWESOME, AMAZING, ...just WOW!!

I never thought I would leave my house with a mobile phone instead of a DSLR and take pictures...I take very many photos with the iphone, the quality doesn't matter this much.

Nowadays we are used to take our DSLRs and take perfect pictures..but what if you don't have it by your side at the right time?...Chase Jarvis said "the best camera is the one that's with you"..so why don't try to do the best with other cameras? you'll learn many new things ;)

I took this one with the iPhone and yeah...it's not what I expected from a mobile phone, it's much more :) (there's also a little bit bokeh in it :O)

Don't worry, I'll take pictures with the DSLR soon again, but now I don't have the time..

Oh and those of you who also own an iPhone can follow me on instagram, I'll follow you back ;) (username: lukeleo)

I wanted to try something different for this week. No HDR color blast look this week. Instead I wanted to do a springt themed pic, with a nice soft glow. I told you last week that I wanted to do some outdoor spring themed shooting, which then didn’t work out unfortunately, because the weather went bad. This week it did! Marie and I immediately went out, to relax a little in the sun and enjoy the weather. It’s great to just hang out in a hammock somewhere in the woods and read or relax for a while.

Read the whole story and see the lighting diagram of the setup at:

Strobist Info:

I just used one light source for this picture. One that is available to everybody for FREE! Of course I’m talking about the sun.

Me at (almost) 36 weeks pregnant. I think you can see why my back has been killing me! Still have about 4 weeks to go...

week September 11th, 2011

I was so excited to finally take a photo with my new polaroid that I felt I had to share it :)

Just so you all know Morgan King's Birthday is on Wednesday!!!

Also i just realized that I am over half way done!

Week 41 (v 11.0) - it's just a facade

WEEK 4 Portrait: Headshot

"Headshots are all about showing the subject without distraction. Look for simple backgrounds, and remove distracting elements. Backgrounds can also help tell the story, just don't distract from the main subject. A headshot should tell the viewer who the person is one sentence."

I've been collecting stones and rocks since i was a kid. These are most of my polished pieces. I couldn't fit all of my collection in one picture.

After the recent craziness of the Utata Big Project - here's something relatively normal along with a blog ponderance on the summer vladography.wordpress.com/2013/09/11/week-26/
