We took the ratties to the Ardenns this time. They where confiened to the garage and outdoors but they had a blast on the waterfeature!

This is located in the Italianate terrace garden, one of many water features throughout the gardens.

I've completed the water course and spillway. I've also added a fourth steppig stone to get over the tree root near the break in the slope to the right of the stream bed. In order to give the appearance that the waterfall is coming from somewhere and not just appearing out of nowhere, I will continue building a false (dry) stream bed on up the hill beyond the spillway. There is still much to do.

Now that I have the edges of the stream defined, I now need to install the waterproof liner to keep all of the water in a closed system so I don't lose any water as it recirculates between the pond, pump and waterfall. After I get the liner in place and start to lay the stream-bed rocks on it, I can then trim off the excess along the sides. I've also added a second large flag stone next to the "patio" stone beside the pond.

A little bird in our new water feature. When it's warm, they love getting in and fluttering about. I've even seen hummingbirds sit on the edge and enjoy the water!

The next step is to create a layer of sand to serve as a base for the flagstone. Before laying the stone I had to make sure the sand was level to give the stone even support.
