The Pharaoh Indoor Water Sculpture is a handcrafted piece of art. The Pharaoh fountain is a shape all in itself. The complex design draws you in as you focus on the forward extrusion then the bending at the top drawing you down to the bottom where the flame torched copper in-lay is.
The Apache Chief Handcrafted Wall Fountain is a handcrafted piece of art. This feature is the Grand Daddy of wall fountains by being the biggest in the signature line having a 30 square foot footprint.
Sheaf Square
Sheaf Square is a public space situated outside Sheffield Station. The area was previously used as a car park, and was surrounded by a major road network.
The square now provides a stunning entrance to the city centre.
Sheaf Square is part of our City Centre Master plan. It won the coveted Project of the Year Award in the 2006 National Rail Awards and contains the:
. spectacular Cutting Edge Sculpture, which combines the city’s famous resource – steel - with water and light.
. dramatic cascade of water, which uses noise and light to give the plaza an exciting atmosphere.
It forms the start of a spectacular walk, the Gold Route, taking visitors from the train station through a series of exciting new developments each with their own distinctive lighting, public art and water features, to the city centre.
The Cutting Edge sculpture
Sheffield design team, Si Applied and international glass artist Keiko Mukaide collaborated in the development of the sculpture.
The sculpture is 90 metres long, and 5 metres high at the highest point.
The stainless steel was provided by Outokumpu of Brightside Sheffield, and the structure was manufactured by Jordans of Bristol.
The external material is 4mm thick, with a mirror polish on one side of the sculpture and a matt/ satin finish on the other.
The sculpture was constructed in eight pieces over a six month period, it was delivered to the site in four deliveries.
The materials required to make the external structure weigh approximately 29 tonnes, and the internal frame probably weighs as much. Therefore the whole sculpture weighs approximately 60 tonnes!

Location:
Sited along the pedestrian route to the City Centre, between the entrance to the Midland Station and the pedestrian crossing at the bottom of Howard Street
Description:
A sinous stainless steel blade gaining in height as it runs downhill towards the station entrance. The smaller end of the piece is almost circular in cross section and decorated with backlit glass work by Mukaide; the station end is a very thin ellipse also with backlit glass by the same artist. It is also lit along the length of its base. Dimensions: 1m - 4.5m high x c. 90 m long.
Commission:
Sheffield City Council. Part of the Heart of the City project. This completes nearly ten years of work improving the area following the pedestrian route from the railway station to the Town Hall. This area forms part of a new square outside the station completed in 2007.
Comment:
The piece acts as a barrier between pedestrians and traffic. The design of this piece reflects the city's centuries of association with metal design.
This piece is the joint winner of the Marsh Award for Public Sculpture 2008

Pteris fronds start to unfurl...with one of the pond fountains as a backdrop. The weather has been wonderful this week.. hovering around 70 degrees and I simply cant believe this is peak winter :-) !!
This is the Botanical Gardens of the Andre Heller Foundation in Gardone Riviera, Lombardy, Italy.
It is also known as the Giardino Botanico A. Hruska.

This is a beautiful statue representing the greek myth of Leda and the Swan (aka Zeus who seduced Leda in the form of the swan).
The statue was created by Enzo Platzotta and lives in the mermaid pond at Forde Abbey.
In the background is the Centenary Fountain, which is the tallest powered fountain in England. The fountain was installed in 2005 to mark the centenary of the Roper family's guardianship of the Forde Abbey estate.

The Pharaoh II Water Wall Sculpture is a handcrafted piece of art. Much like its earlier cousin the Pharaoh, the Pharaoh II is a water feature with a very distinctive tapering shape. The feature is smaller than the original but still just as amazing.
The Saleen Mirror Fountain is a water fountain that brings a different design element than any other fountain out there. With its sporty diagonal gills both top and bottom, and its tall slender size, the Saleen is sure to impress. Beneath the cut outs lays a clean brushed aluminum. In contrast to the dark stone, the mirror water surface highlights the black and silver combination that does so well for this piece of art.

Maria Pizzuti is from Rome and as an artist she has worked in many different media. One of her better known sculptures is a large panel-beaten bronze piece, entitled An Croi Briste, is in situ as a famine memorial on Lower Mallow Street (near Steamboat Quay) on the Shannon River in Limerick city. I do not know why, at the site, it is entitled “Broken Heart” rather than “An Croi Briste”. Maybe there is a plaque in Irish that I failed to notice.
In the past I have complained about the condition of this monument and the lack of water in what was supposed to be a water feature. Somebody has made some attempt to tidy it up but the addition of large flowerpots was not a good idea and in my opinion they should be removed soon rather than later. It would appear that adding baskets or pots of flowers is a default solution by the city council in Limerick.
