The Tribal Sunset Wall Water Feature is a handcrafted piece of art. The Tribal Sunset is technically more complex than the Arizona . This one has sharper angles in the stone work in addition to the flamed torched copper inlay similar to a tribal design.

The People’s Park in Dun Laoghaire features two very attractive cast iron fountains manufactured by the Sun Foundry, Glasgow. In 1985 the fountain nearest the seafront was fully restored to working order and illuminated it. In 1986 the Local Council dedicated the fountain to mark the 70th anniversary of the 1916 Rising, and an inscribed stone paving slab was laid beside it.

The second fountain was restored in 1988 as part of the Council's contribution to mark Dublin's Millennium. An inscribed stone slab was also placed in the surrounding paved area.

This was where I had my gargoyle fountain, but the base of that one started leaking. As I tried to come up with a different container, I found these pieces at a wholesaler. I redid the fountain workings, added the granite pieces (under the ball0 to raise the level and hide the mesh support. Some clear and blue crystal balls are just on top. The birds still manage to drink from this, despite the smooth surface!

Faux stone water feature tied into outdoor living area

An on-going project for over 4 years. This is the third iteration. My wife and I have worked very hard to custom build this garden fountain. There are no kit pieces here. Even the bamboo spout was crafted from hand selected canes.

Blood, sweat, tears, elbow grease, trial and error, and plenty of beer. If you are building a fountain and have any questions, please let me know. I would be happy to tell you what worked for me and what did not.

Now, we can finally sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful water feature.

We purchased the bamboo at Bamboo Oasis in Beaverton:

*If you are looking for anything bamboo related in Portland, this is the place! So much knowledge and good advice. Can't wait to go back and buy more plants.

We purchased the pot at Al's Garden Center in Sherwood:

The water plants came from Hughes Water Gardens in Tualatin:

The pump, lower pond liner, and misc. pipes and fittings all came from local hardware stores.

This water wall, at RBM's estate in Brazil is similar to the one in Caracas. The tiles are all hand painted by RBM.

Our "pond", taken early last winter, June 2007. It is under the back patio roof. The patio faces north, so the winter sun shines right across it and keeps it warm, but it is completely shaded in summer. Because of its sunny sheltered location, the water temp never dropped below 10 degrees C (50 F), and on sunny winter days it warmed up to 18 (65 F) - so the fish and plants like it. So far this summer the water temp has not gone over 23 (74 F).
