At the Laytown Races Co. Meath, Ireland, the only official beach racing in Europe...seemingly. I love the various different types of folk all gathered here; it's such a diverse crowd, only found at the horses. There are a few funny faces in there; they must have some money on this one! If you haven't been, consider going at some stage...it's a great day out for all and sundry.

I was taking those two horse a mare and her young foal when I heard those geese honking before I could see them as they flew right over head , I love magical moments like this because you can never plan for them!

I just started a book called "Blue Mind" by Wallace J. Nichols. It's about our connection to water, the way we are drawn to it, soothed and enchanted by it, and what the scientific research has to say about it. I'm still reading it, but so far so good. I am definitely taking note on how many of my personal behaviors and thoughts have been influenced by water, whether frozen in a glacier, reflecting in a lake, flowing in a waterfall, or caressing a shore. I think for me, water can be conducive to a state of mindfullness, or meditation, bringing the mind and body closer to the same moment at the same time. I'm curious to see what the research says.
Side note, this is my dad, on one of our many trips to the Oregon coast together. We've gone as a family almost yearly to bi-yearly my whole life. It is almost his birthday. Happy birthday, Dad!

A Western Springsian waiting on an inbound dinky pauses from reading his newspaper to watch a trio of General Motors EMD muscle thunder the South Saint Paul Z train through town.
If I returned to this spot to recreate this scene it would be a trio of orange BNSF GEs, and the guy would be fixated on his cellphone.
It's just not worth it today.

Sunset long exposure over a solitary tree at Pelican Point, near Bunbury, Western Australia.
Nikon D810 & Nikkor 16-35mm, NiSi 6 stop CPL/ND filter. PP in PS CC using Nik Software and luminosity masks.
I spent about 15 minutes trying to get a shot of this work on Hanbury Street but this guy just wouldn't get out of the way. He was even obstructing traffic. In the end I gave up and kept him in shot. If you recognise him, tell him to show a little consideration for other photographers next time!

I was too tired to go up to Checkerboard Mesa after a long day in the Narrows. So I abandoned my plans and decided to line-up with a lot of our fellow photogs on this very popular spot. The wind was whipping and there was a storm coming. This shot was taken just before we all scampered away due to the deluge.
Today is my 21st birthday. I don't really know what to say other than thank you all for the amazing support you have all given me the past couple years through my photographic adventures. I figure since I'm starting a new year of my life I should branch out a bit and try different things with my photos. So...here we goooo...
