Bit of a random shot today. I recently received a Canon 50mm f/1.8 (which is rapidly becoming a favourite!) for my birthday and I've spent the last few days messing around with it. I am loving the bokeh! I spent all of last night walking around the house looking for shapes and patterns and ended up in my washing machine shooting this.
Hope you like it!
It was on my honeymoon at the age of 19,that my husband took me to a dinner-dance. I needed to go to the bathroom and within minutes I returned to my dinner table. My husband asked me to dance so, I of course, said yes. We danced to a lovely smoochy song when I glanced at my reflection in the window. Shock and Horror! I had tucked my dress inside my pants! I could have died with embarassment.
The purpose of this painting is to show you the embarassing situations I get into. My kitchen flooded, I baked a cake without sugar and made coffee with gravy granuals. And yes, I slipped on the floor and concussed myself! Funny huh?
In the bathroom at the Cupcake Emporium in Ames, IA, I found this lovely old Maytag washing machine.
Also: The red velvet cupcakes there are AWESOME.
It's been just one of those days.
It all started badly when Mr Tom accidentally dropped a towel in the toilet. Don't ask.
Even while on best behavior Mrs PB found Mr Tom's misfortune slightly amusing, but with Mr Fox away on business and Mrs Emily absconding, after heckling she did go on to supervise the washing machine!
And who knows... some of those encouraging shrieks may have accelerated the cleaning process!
While looking for something else (which I never found) I found the box of mice I have been looking for. They jumped out onto the washing machine for a photo op. You just never know what you will find!
Put new brushes in the motor about a month ago, the fan of the dryer function doesn't work (1st fan replaced just in warranty), and the last straw - last night when I select a program and it trips the whole house RCD. : (
I'll probably need to spend about £80-100 to get a new fan - and who knows why it's tripping the RCD. Conclusion: it is uneconomic to repair. Ours is a busy household with 4 occupants - a reliable washer is essential.
This NEFF washer dryer cost £949 in February 2021. Cost of ownership = £237.25 per annum.
Very poor value. Not impressed.

1767-ben készÃtette el az elsÅ‘ mosógépet Jacob Christian Schäffer német evangélikus lelkész. Tetszett az anyag rózsa-szerűsége.

I like the rose-like shape.
Tag 135: Hilfestellung für Männer.
Gesehen auf einer Waschmaschine des Herstellers Eudora. Ob Männer damit zurecht kommen ? Da sind zu viele Möglichkeiten drauf, oder ?
Day 135: Guidance for men.
Seen on a washing machine of the manufacturer Eudora. If men can manage their laundry with this guidance ? There are too many selection possibilities, aren't ?
Don't you always find the oddest things in the oddest places? I do. It's weird, really, but I couldn't keep my finger from pressingthe camera button when I saw this. I thought it was quite lovely.
An alternative to my entry into the Perspective competition, the dog was just an accident she wandered up for a look inside just as I fired the shutter!
Treachery and Treason!
The Empty space in the kitchen was for a washing machine! The dreaded kryptonite of all things sheep. How could my mommie put this monstrosity in the kitchen of all places?
Good thing I had a screwdriver with me when I was flung mercilessly into the thing. I quickly made my way out through the back pannel and in passing cut some wires... hehe that will keep the thing from working for a few hours :-)
If you love watching Robot Chicken, you know what this toy is ALL about!
This Robot likes to use his "Hip Action" on this washing machine!:o

The kid is looking for fresh clothes for the day. But it kinda looked like he was looking for a way out. I think I'm superimposing my own thoughts though. December 12, 2016, by phone.
Whilst waiting for the rain to stop, and our washing to dry....Inspiration visited, and bestowed this work of art upon me... ;-)
Apart from the usual curves, saturation, shadow enhancing etc....the shape of the image was achieved in camera...ie, slower shutter speed coupled with camera movement.....

Our wretched washing machine has finally gone bang. I've been coaxing it along for the last ten years or so, since the warranty expired, replacing bits here and there: a belt here, a switch there, a printed circuit board under there. But now it's expired in a big way: a bearing collapsed, the whole thing seized up, and, by the smell of it, the motor burnt out. So, until the replacement arrives on Tuesday, we're back to the traditional way of doing it: a hand-wash in the sink and spin dry with my late parents' trusty old spinner, and the water collected in a saucepan bought new in 1956.
