I got them set up. I didn't do anything else. Blah.
You know, I didn't want to move any laundry machines. I wanted to pay money and have laundry machines brought to me. Instead, I ended up having to help move laundry machines something like 7 times, and I still had to pay money for new laundry machines. It was the worst of both worlds. I probably should have explained my plan more clearly to Bridget.
In the pub bathroom is this washing machine. The dials reminded me of cheezy Star Trek control panels from the 60's. The lid on the left side pulls completely off so clothing can be washed and agitated. The circular lid conceals a spinner if you want to get the water out of your clothes before hanging to dry.

A Maytag Washing Machine engine. These were made by Maytag, specifically for this purpose. Gas powered washing machines were common in rural areas, where electricity had not yet arrived, right up through WWII.
Expired 35mm film, first put through the washing machine, then dried ( in a dark room) with hairdryer before shooting.The results are a bit more subtle than the roll I put through the dishwasher.

This looks like the wreckage of an ancient washing machine; since it can't have floated far, it looks like it must have been the one the Richardsons used. (It's not far from the road.)

Like the squirrels the other day, the boys have widened their horizons and express interest in things beyond eating, sleeping and using the litter box. The washing machine is interesting, but only if there's nothing else going on. This is Dodger making sure the laundry spins in the right direction.
The Hotpoint rim-flo system as viewed with the top open. The outer tub is fixed to the machine and the inner tub moves via a flexible boot and cable suspension system. It is imperative that this machine be on something solid.
The white tub collar has a perforated bottom and water is pumped from the tub during the wash cycle into the ring via a 90 degree plastic flume at the 1 o'clock position. Lint and other muck stay trapped in the ring during the wash cycle. When the machine enters the spin cycle, the muck is forced outward into the outer tub by centrifugal force. The spray rinse also forces fresh water into the ring during the spin cycle to flush it out. This is basically the self-cleaning version of the GE Filter-Flo.

I took this shot the other morning after pulling a load of washing out of the machine.
4 times the freakin thing has leaked this week. 3 times today alone! I'd mopped up the mess, towels down to catch the water, machine pulled out, everything checked. Came home from fat club & my dad takes two seconds to look at it for me and finds the rip in the seal tucked up where I never felt! Blasted thing was gonna get my boot to it too! Thanks Dad x
