Hello Arielle: Miniature "Real Working" Washing Machine (Jinhuafeng) China

Sean's washing machine is large.

On my walk with Major the other day, we passed my old neighborhood laundromat in Manayunk. It's been a long time since I had to use one of these. I'm forever grateful for my washer, so when I caught sight of this old gem, I couldn't help but snap off an old memory. Happy Slider's Sunday everyone, squeezing this in at the last minute. May your days be filled with appliances that work, so you don't have to sit around here all day. Fortunately when I used this one, I lived across the street!

East Wisconsin Ave. looking east from in front of Wisconsin Traction, Light, Heat & Power Co. and the Meyer Burnstein building in 1918. Two Cataract Junior washing machines out front. The church across the street is the Neenah Gospel Tabernacle. In 1914 it was the Neenah Mission Chapel and in 1920 it was the Pentecostal Assembly Hall.

Made around 1912, this machine is already 100 years old.

Almost a year since she last did it - here she is again in my washing machine - this time with clothes in it!

The joy of getting an electric wringer.

A demolished washing machine. Me and a friend carefully carried this machine down. Once down, we smashed it on the ground and decided to tear it apart. :-D "Boys will be boys"

It'll be easier looking on Flickr than trying to find the manual.

(And only valid until 2021_09_16 because it quit working.)

Hope everyone's having a great weekend, I've got to work and I've got laundry to do, so I'm gonna run....I'll check out your streams later- HCS!!

I had a pre-breakfast call from Olive about her missing newspaper (as usual! - it comes at 9.30am), which was a good sign, as it meant she was planning to go to Peggy Dodd's. I then texted Gareth to wish him a happy birthday - in Budapest on holiday with Lauren. He'd been welcomed into breakfast by the hotel staff clapping, and then was given champagne and chocolate cake!

After I had a much-needed bath, Mum & I went to the Rose & Crown for lunch. It rained for most of the afternoon, so I couldn't do gardening at Olive's, and got a wet sock when I went to do a bit of shopping. However, that reminded me to do my washing, which I'd forgotten to do.

It was a wet day so I decided to take a photo of my washing machine. SOOC. Scanned 35mm print.

Hi, Flickr!

I'm back from vacation, which means back to shooting :)

I'm so tired all the time. I feel like it never ends.

In other news: I am now eighteen years of age, even though everyone thinks I'm fourteen aha.

This hurt to do hahaha. I can't believe I was able to fit half of myself into that machine.

Max loves to help out with the laundry, especially when he gets to check out the water jetting onto the clothes and then seeing everything spin. Sometimes he puts his head right inside the window - for a better view, of course!

Here is a long story about Tide* for you.

A few years ago I found myself at a fancy schmancy art gallery (or hoity toity, or hotsy totsy, whatever you prefer) in New York City looking at prints by an artist named James Rizzi. We had bought a print of his on a cruise and we both liked it very much. So K. had done some research and then he had emailed this gallery and it was my birthday and there we were.

We looked at a lot of prints that day. Big ones, little ones, themed ones. We came home with a few, but there is one that I think about almost every day which we didn't buy and I suppose I wish we had. It was called "My Mom Uses Tide".**

The thing is, my mom used tide. She used nothing but tide. And I use nothing but tide and every time I do the laundry I think of her. I suppose a lot of moms use tide so I don't know why this struck me so forcefully. It was a few months after my mom had passed away and perhaps I was feeling nostalgic or maudlin. I don't know. These days whenever I do the laundry I get the tide out and I think about my mom teaching me how to do laundry (at the ripe old age of 17 on my way out the door to college) and then I think to myself "My Mom Uses Tide".

*I'm an original scent girl. I know this is Clean Breeze, but the original scent rules. They must never discontinue it.

**Rizzi has fabulous titles. I fell in love with so many of his titles. One piece we own is called "Make Friends with Life and People" and I love that title very much.

The old one went wrong again, even though it was repaired a couple of months ago... No point throwing more money at it, so a replacement was purchased.

Have tried this before, it's very difficult somehow. But I liked this one.

There's no longer any need to get undressed. Just stick yourself in the washing machine and press the whirrrr button.
