Morning walk in San Ignacio, campground

We've been living here for almost a month and couldn't be happier. I just can't shake the feeling that we're on vacation. I didn't think that our lives were that fast-paced in the city, but in comparison to this small-town pace, it felt like we never had a chance to breathe until we came here.

The trail I was walking on is one of those that feels like a wooded womb. The trees arch over the path in a canopy, and light beams poke through and illuminate the flora like spot lamps. This flower was just off the path, leaning into one of the angled columns of light.

Taking "macro" images with a long zoom lens is strangely fulfilling. I can get right in on the subject from 6 or 8 feet away, almost like a voyeur. Sure, there is the expected loss of fine detail that comes with the long focal length, but the added effects created by the sheer volume of glass and the compressed depth of field more than make up for it, I think.

Walked the dogs in the park and they are resting in the car while I shoot a couple of scenes of our walk in the park. Dogs and cameras can be too much to handle.
