Project Title: How We Walk In The World

School: Southwark House

Teaching Artist: Nikki Virbitsky

Site Contact: Hollice Lespoir

Age/Grade: Middle School

Project Description:

This series of ten week long workshops was an exploration of several themes including the significance of femininity to the female pre-teen, female roles in society, in bridging the gap between craft and fine art, as well as addressing the transitions in modern craft which have brought them into the realm of fine art.

These pillows were made by each girl as a representation of themselves, their backgrounds, and their role models. Painting, sewing and drawing techniques were used to create these pieces entirely by hand. Throughout the process, some of the girls turned the pieces into a gift to be presented to their role models or someone important to them.

SHE walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair'd the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Grand garde-robe walk-in pour femme fabriqué sur mesure avec espace central.

well...I can walk in and it technically is a closet

believe it or not, i think this is one of my favourites from my recent nikko trip. at least i think it works best as a desktop wallpaper. there's just something soothing about the soft colours and the out-of-focus forest. but that's me. for the whole story about nikko and the stupidly cold weather that stupidly early morning check out everyone else's favourite here.

It was a rather blah day. Then it started to rain, and I had to take a walk to enjoy it fully.

Walk in the Green Valley.

The Green Valley is an oasis of peace in the triangle between Brussels, Leuven and Mechelen.

..Danuta and Benny came by after a walk in the forest. She didnt want to show me the flowers she picked, so I took up the camera, and despite her best efforts to hide them I managed to get a few shots and here we can see that it's Lily of the Valley. They are of course poisonous, and I'm not sure what she's up to!

Large walk-in closet for the master bedroom. In addition to the walk-in closet, there is another closet with full sized mirrored doors.

Here's a shot of the rear of this customer's van. They were running a special on sportswear. Very eye-catching!
