Geese family in evening walk in sunset at the lake.
I have taken some pictures with my brand new camera on the lake to explore its features and I wanted to get some more feeling about its possibilities and its handling.
My first mistake and lesson: Before I'm begining the shooting, I always have to clean lenses! Otherwise I have a lot of work with Gimp after the shooting... :-(
For this shooting I have used a tripod and I have switched off the SteadyShot feature.
I'm really at a loss for words tonight. I am sleepy and have had a lot of "day job" shoots. I am looking forward to the weekend so I can do some non medical fun photo taking.

I believe this is the hardest puzzle I have ever put together. I had wanted to put this together for some years but I didn't have enough room at home (1500 pcs.) so I took it to the local library. There I completed only about half of it, but it was so hard! I would look and look for pieces and believe they were missing (puzzle was from a thrift store), only to have the pieces just show up later.
This is the best picture I could get at the library, and I used the Sunrise filter here in the photo editor.

The Stone Jetty, Morecambe
This is a long, stone jetty offering a walking path, bay vistas & bird & animal sculpture. The present Stone Jetty is one side of the former Harbour, built around 1853. In 1861 a railway line was completed from the Jetty to Hest Bank, where it linked in with the Lancaster to Carlisle line. This line brought in coal and coke from Durham and North Yorkshire for the flourishing export trade to Ireland. When the Port of Heysham was built in 1904 trade declined rapidly in Morecambe and the Harbour was eventually used for breaking up ships, giving employment to hundreds of local people during the bad times of the 1920s and 1930s. The most famous casualty was the SS Majestic, a huge old White Star liner broken up in 1914.
The Stone Jetty was rebuilt and extended during 1994/95 as part of the coastal defence work to combine a series of circular pavement features incorporating pavement games which young and old can enjoy. There's a maze, a magpie hopscotch, a food chain, a wordsearch, a huge compass and a cafe.

The Festa del Redentore
is an event held in Venice in July where the fireworks play an important role. In 2012, it will be the 14th and 15th.
The Redentore began as a feast to give thanks for the end of the terrible plague of 1576, which killed 50,000 people,[3] including the great painter Tiziano Vecellio (Titian). The Doge Alvise I Mocenigo promised to build a magnificent church if the plague ended. Andrea Palladio was commissioned, assisted by Da Ponte, to build a majestic church on the Island of Giudecca. The church, known as Il Redentore, was consecrated in 1592, and is one of the most important examples of Palladian religious architecture. After the foundation stone was laid, a small wooden church was temporarily built, along with temporary bridge of barges from the Zattere, so that the Doge Sebastian Venier could walk in procession as far as the tabernacle. Afterwards, the Doge made a pilgrimage to the Church of Redentore every year.
On Saturday, the eve of the festival, fireworks are let off. Preparations begin early in the morning when people begin to decorate their boats, or the small wooden terraces on rooftops from where they can admire the fireworks. At sunset, Saint Mark's basin begins to fill with up with boats of all kinds, festooned with balloons and garlands, and thousands of Venetians await the fireworks while dining on the boats. Around 10 o'clock at night, from pontoons placed nearby the island of San Giorgio, the fireworks begin and Saint Mark's basin becomes one of the most atmospheric stages in the world. The fireworks last for around 45 to 60 minutes, illuminating the night and arousing intense emotions in both Venetians and visitors. Once the fireworks are over, the young people of the city head off to the Lido, where they sit on the sand and wait for dawn.
A bridge of barges is built connecting Giudecca to the rest of Venice. Sunday is devoted to religious celebrations.
The 2006 festival celebrated the victory of the Italian national soccer team in the World Cup and fireworks in the colours of the Italian flag were let off.

A walk in the Amerongse Bos.
Het Amerongse Bos is één van de oudste bossen op de Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Dat is op zichzelf niet zo bijzonder omdat de meeste bossen op de Heuvelrug pas ongeveer honderd jaar oud zijn. Het Amerongse Bos steekt hier echter met kop en schouders bovenuit: sommige grove dennen dateren uit 1770. Het bos dankt zijn leeftijd aan de kasteelheren van het in de Amerongse Bovenpolder gelegen kasteel Amerongen. Zij lieten het bos aanleggen om er te kunnen jagen. Naast zijn ouderdom heeft het Amerongse Bos nóg een bijzonderheid. Het bos ligt namelijk op de 69 meter hoge Amerongse Berg, het hoogste punt van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
Walking in the “red gum” forest of Wyrrabalong National Park is always a joy, but particularly when the orange and reds of the bark of the Angophora costatas have been further saturated by some rain, and the shedding of winter bark.
