“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
Quote ― Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
Still dreaming of snow to fall and stay for a while.....I put outside a sign to welcome it. ( This was early december for one day....)
This display had a lot going on. I took photos from several directions and each one had its own merit. This one shows the overall scene. I might post a few closer shots of some of its elements. (Southern Oregon Cascades Trip DSC_7078.jpg)
We've been expecting you...... :-) my previous post wasn't creepy enough for me, shoulda waited for another day. Inspired by wilbur, karen, and peddlehead I had to dig some neglect out. :-)
this is the garage behind the house in yesterday's post, it might be even more scary than the residence. :-)

On Being Present
3rd December 2007 by Don Iannone
Don’t look back, you’ll only see
A faint, disappearing reality
Your past may beckon, set it free
Things behind you, let them be
Ahead of you, the future lies
Much to come, a surprise
Look ahead, if you will
But careful not, the present kill
Always in the now you are
Dangling even, from afar
Soon enough, the future comes
Now again, it becomes
Time escapes all of us
In between, we are thus
No matter where you are sent
Try your best, be present

The incredible roof at Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista in Racconigi, Northern Italy.
This was shot in a small town whilst we stopped for lunch between locations on our recent UE tour of the country. The trip was full of adventure and the odd scary moment but as always worth every penny and ounce of effort invested. The best part for me was having the power of the jaw dropping Pentax 645Z with me, kindly loaned by the fab people at Ricoh Imaging UK. The detail the camera produces is nothing short of breathtaking! More pictures to come over the next weeks and months.
At the foot of St.Paul Hill. Pic taken during my trip to Malacca in Malaysia from 28th - 30th Aug 2009.
Sightseeing with me in my blog: Malacca!
As our week in Ohio progressed, word reached us that the Ohio Central local that worked from Zanesville, OH to Cambridge, OH could possibly have the last 2 remaining OHCR painted "Super7's". As Friday got closer, dad made some calls and found out that it was likely to happen. We got up early that morning and left Canton well before sunrise for the 2 hour ride to Zanesville . We met up with the crew and dad and I talked with them, and they gave us the scoop for the whole day. It was another really good day hanging out with our friends, getting many great shots of the 2 old painted units on the old B&O mainline. Here OHCR "Super 7's" B23-7R 4092-4093 are shown on passing the former B&O station and railroad buildings in downtown Cambridge, OH on August 8, 2019.
Blue SDs on the LAUBOZ, searchlight signals, and a vaguely BN-esque station and sign. The MRL we crave!
I have no shame in admitting that i am one of those people that pretty much only tries to photograph these birds while they are resting. They are just too dang quick for me while they are in flight!
BR Standard 7MT 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" passes Potbridge near Winchfield on its first railtour after repairs, the London Victoria to Yeovil Junction "Cathedrals Express" excursion.
Where everything is just a little bit exquisite. We stopped here for a 2 hour lunch that turn into a 4 hour stopover.

Welcome swallows are small fast-flying birds found in open country particularly around lakes, coasts, riverbeds and ponds. Their flight is circular and darting in style, and they may be seen singly, in pairs or in flocks. Flocks often perch en masse, lined up on fences or power lines. They were named ‘welcome swallows’ because they appeared in southern Australia as a herald of spring. Due to their elegant shape and flight, and their preference for nesting around buildings, swallows are noticed and appreciated more than most other small birds.
