Managed to shoot a few lovely shots of one of these speedsters swooping low over the field picking of midget flies. This is a 50% crop.

To start the year 2011!

I don't like so much this California with this black rims!! And you?

The color is fantastic, called Rosso F1 2007!! Just perfect!

Welcome to Riversong, on the Elk River!

The other day when out riding I noticed the swallows swooping low over the Waimakariri River. Today I took my camera along to take some shots. I am quite pleased with the performance of the Sony A1 provided of course that I can keep these little "fighter jets" in the view finder long enough to press that shutter

the title says it all :)

Mini striped pumpkins

I hope you all enjoy the longest day in the northern hemisphere !

And for my friends in the southern hemisphere ...

Cheer up ! The days are getting longer again :-))

The New Hampshire Northcoast Railroad's train dispatcher and clerk has left his office to check his list and gives a friendly wave to his colleagues on the D8 crew as they pull in with the cut of empty aggregate hoppers they'd brought north from Dover and Tri-City.

Three quarters of the railroad's roster is seen here, EMD GP38-2s NHN 3823 (blt. Sept. 1978 as CR 8242), leased FURX 5509 (blt. Mar. 1970 as high nosed straight GP38 SOU 2801) and NHN 3825 (blt. Sept. 1978 as CR 8244).

Ambleside Park was designated in 1918, and by 1964, the slough had been mostly filled in with sand to become Ambleside Beach.

The Welcome Figure,

Constructed from an old growth cedar log from Hollyburn Mountain, the Welcome Figure is a gift from the Squamish Nation, marking K’aya’chtn (gathering of ocean canoes). In honour of the teachings and wisdom of the Squamish Nation grandmothers, the sculpture fosters respect for the land, animals and people that occupy it.

Paris went all out to make me feel welcome the day I arrived.

More from a stunning day back in 2020. A mix of fire and low level clouds eliminated blue from the sky giving you a natural day of Blade Runner. This was shot at high noon, not sunrise or sunset.

Have a great weekend my friends :)

“One of the marvelous things about community

is that it enables us to welcome

and help people in a way

we couldn't as individuals.

When we pool our strength

and share the work and responsibility,

we can welcome many people,

even those in deep distress,

and perhaps help them find

self-confidence and inner healing.”

- Jean Vanier

A welcoming goldfinch is one of my favorite birds

of spring and summer. This is a gorgeous, colorful male.

goldfinch.

They are small and very active and love their colorful

spring and summer plumage.

It was 97 degrees F yesterday, June 1, 2023. This heat wave.

took over May and hopefully by June 10th a cooling trend back to more normal temperatures.

Thank you for your visits, comments and faves !!!

...to my world.

When I look at you and say... "HEY! I need someone to "drive the get away car". You in?" (walk away... just walk away....)

And you look at me and ask "How'd you scrape up your leg like that... and get that big scratch on the side of your face?" And I have to answer... "I realize that you don't know me all that well, but you should know me well enough to know that you really don't want to know the answer to those questions." ; )

Yup.... welcome to my world. (and what kind of skull is that.... and why is it in the trunk of your car...?)

Welcome May!

This is a close-up of the acrylic welcome sign. It says "welcome" in gold, and is surrounded by white and burgundy tulip wedding flowers. It's very romantic. The welcome sign is placed on a wooden easel. The welcome sign is blank, so that guests can sign it as a keepsake. There are floating candles around it.

For some reason 1018 has been out of service since October, this marks its first time leading north of Matteson since then.

A tea vendor with a typical cup of chai, brewed in thousands of little stands and street kitchens all over the city; each with their own spice mix and recipe. I loved the tea, especially with Kolkata's earthenware cups. Discarded in piles along the road, they are collected, ground and re-used for newly fired cups. A warming drink with minimal footprint.

Here she is settling into her new room which she shares with my modfied Day Tripper Poppy Parker, Emma.

I have added a tiny mole to Liv and darkened the space between her lips for a more natural effect.

The Einbunpin Lagoon at Sandgate is also home to Welcome Swallows. It has a covered bridge which they love to flit up into.

November is here and winter is soon upon us.

This trail also becomes a groomed cross country ski trail when we have snow.
