I have no shame in admitting that i am one of those people that pretty much only tries to photograph these birds while they are resting. They are just too dang quick for me while they are in flight!

Welcome swallows are small fast-flying birds found in open country particularly around lakes, coasts, riverbeds and ponds. Their flight is circular and darting in style, and they may be seen singly, in pairs or in flocks. Flocks often perch en masse, lined up on fences or power lines. They were named ‘welcome swallows’ because they appeared in southern Australia as a herald of spring. Due to their elegant shape and flight, and their preference for nesting around buildings, swallows are noticed and appreciated more than most other small birds.

Welcome to The Silver State, AMTK 300! Amtrak's brand new ALC-42 locomotive makes it's maiden journey across Nevada on the California Zephyr. On the point is AMTK 7, one of 200 plus P42DC locomotives, the workhorse of Amtrak intercity and cross country trains. Eventually, the ALC-42 will take control of trains like the California Zephyr. For now, the P42 is in charge of Train 6 as it rolls through Verdi, CA.

Cimarron Valley 4053, in a very nicely done Santa Fe-inspired paint scheme, leads a westbound CVR freight into the yard at Satanta, Kansas.

Some more orange, still my favourite car but needs the big wing.

A Metra outbound passes Tower A-2 on the former Milwaukee Road. This was shortly before the tower op sounded the air raid siren and then opened the door to tell me off. Welcome to Chicago, I guess?

Small fountain in Pasadena and the City Hall at background :)

Pasadena is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States 18 km northeast of downtown Los Angeles. It is the most populous city and the primary cultural center of the San Gabriel Valley. Old Pasadena is the city's original commercial district. Pasadena is also home to many scientific, educational, and cultural institutions. The original inhabitants of Pasadena and surrounding areas were members of the Native American Hahamog-na tribe, a branch of the Tongva Nation. In 1821, Mexico became independent of Spain and California came under control of the Mexican government. On June 19 1886 Pasadena was incorporated and becoming one of the first cities to be incorporated in what is now Los Angeles County, following the city of Los Angeles.

Pasadena City Hall is the historic city hall of Pasadena, California, United States. Located at 100 North Garfield Avenue, City Hall was designed by John Bakewell & Arthur Brown and completed in 1927. It combines elements of both Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture, and is a significant architectural example of the City Beautiful movement of the 1920s. It measures 110 m and rises 6 stories. There are over 235 rooms and passageways that cover over 16,000 m2. The defining dome, located above the west entrance, is 7.9 m tall and 16 m in diameter. On 28 July 1980 the Civic Center District, including Pasadena City Hall, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
