Happy New Year my sweetheart.
Together another year we start.
Another year for me to love you
And be thankful for all that you do.
I love the smile on your face.
Love the feel of your embrace.
Love the ways you show you care
Love every joy that we share.
You are so sweet
You make life so complete
Happiness, as only you do
Love You because you're you!
So this is my first morning walk in two weeks and what a warm welcome by this young Nankeen Night-Heron! It flew across the Tranquility Bay and sat for a while on a dead tree in the middle of it, right in front of me.
Definitely a "bird of good omen" for me.
(Nycticorax caledonicus)
In my first bird photography session for several months I was treated to excellent views of this spoonbill on the Bevyl Road Flash at Parkgate.
Welcome June!V2
June is a popular time for weddings, so I have created this still life to celebrate the new brides and grooms.
This is a high-quality photo taken with a Nikon camera. It was taken at a hotel wedding, which was simple and elegant. With white and pink peonies wedding flowers arranged in a bouquet placed on the table. It's very romantic. There are floating candles around it. The warm spring sunlight is shining in. In the style of Pino Daeni.

Welcome Swallow
≠===================≠
We would in normal seasons have good numbers come and roost under the eaves and inside the old brick walls of a local farm building.
This year, sadly the numbers are down, and the raptors that would also follow them are not to be seen.
I made a last minute decision to pop into Travis Wetlands hoping for some Warou / Swallow action. I was not disappointed. I took a ton of photos. Here is one of my favourites.
A hot shone down on 24 August 79 A:D.,but the Pompeians, who were engrossed in their work and in the fantastic life of the city, did not know that they had seen that wonderful sun for the last time.In the early hours of the afternoon,in fact, the summit of Vesuvius exploded with a frightening roar.It was in this way that Pompeii was buried under six or seven metres of earth.
A nice Welcome to Arches National Park with the Courthouse Towers... The Three Gossips, Sheep Rock, Tower of Babel, and the Organ.
Bienvenidos todas y todos a la época navideña esa que trae de cabeza a alguna gente y que disfruta otra tanta. No se sabe si es una época buena o una pesadilla, ya decía el gran Alice Cooper aquello de; "Welcome to my nightmare
I think you're gonna like it
I think you're gonna feel you belong
A nocturnal vacation
A necessary sedation
You wanna feel at home 'cause you belong
Welcome to my nightmare, whoa-whoa-oh"
Con eso y todo salud para tod@s nos guste o no la navidad.
Managed to shoot a few lovely shots of one of these speedsters swooping low over the field picking of midget flies. This is a 50% crop.

welcome-to-somewhere-2
NOW, we're finally getting somewhere after one of the most brutally hot Summers on record...and although September can provide more of the same humid heat or some refreshing cooler days of drier air, I always embrace it for at least the possibility of more comfortable hiking as October and November edge a bit closer! I hope it will be a wonderful month for you!
The maples are already starting to turn at the Weeks Bay Bog, and thousands of Flattened Pipewort wildflowers provide the backdrop bokeh as they fill the bog with a polka dot effect this time of year....
After an over 2 year hiatus, Amtrak's 'Maple Leaf' finally made a return to the GTA, a bit unexpectedly as there was very little news around it aside from tickets magically reappearing on the market. Anyways, here we see the second run of Amtrak 63/VIA 98 as they pull into VIA's Mimico Yard to layover for the night.
The other day when out riding I noticed the swallows swooping low over the Waimakariri River. Today I took my camera along to take some shots. I am quite pleased with the performance of the Sony A1 provided of course that I can keep these little "fighter jets" in the view finder long enough to press that shutter
More attributable to an entrance to a haunted house rather than a stately home in the heart of Cheshire.
The lighted red chochin lantern and the hung out external noren curtain signal that they are opened for business.
I love taking night shots not because it's easy but because it's hard to do it well, in particular handheld night shots.
The interplay of light and shadows, love the slivers of light that seeps through the thin gaps between the wooden lattices and blinds.
The restaurant’s name “竹茂” can be seen clearly on the red chochin lantern, the green noren (暖簾) and the floor lamp in similar traditional fashion as most of the eateries in the area.
Burnt highlights, blocky featureless shadows, loss of contrast, flare and color noise are the typical problems that plague poorly executed night shots. All these can then be further exacerbated by clumsy post-processing with too much push of shadows and highlight recovery rendering the image lifeless. Pre-shot discipline and proper post-processing can mitigate all these, even with cheap, basic ILC cameras.
Boat anchor kilo class f1.2 lenses are also not necessary especially when the image is at an oblique angle which will require a slightly deeper depth of field.
Meanwhile, smartphone multi-shot modes keep getting better for static night scenes. Before long people will look back at the silliness of boat anchor sized f1.2 lenses!
Shot taken handheld with FE 55mm f1.8 ZA (281g), a lens that has been much maligned unfairly by forum gear nuts pretending to understand photography.
