57 Stanton St, near Eldridge St, houses the FusionArts Museum. It is, following their website, "New York’s only visual art space dedicated exclusively to the exhibition and archiving of multidisciplinary (fusion) art." Anyway, an interesting place on the Lower East Side.

A visual representation of Toronto's watersheds. Water runs down the shiny metal sections to water the living plants that represent Toronto's green areas. This is something I want to come visit in the summer.
"Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably. Evergreen, a national charity, has transformed the former Don Valley Brick Works from a collection of deteriorating heritage buildings into an international showcase for urban sustainability and green design that is open year-round." (Evergreen Brickworks Site)
To me this site symbolized the transformation of something that was decrepit, dark, forgotten and forlorn into a space where the community can interact with thier natural surroundings. Children are encouraged to play outside with natural materials (sticks, branches and leaves) and parents only smile when they see their child covered in mud from jumping into a mud puddle as opposed to being concerned by germs and bacteria (like many ecophobic parents are today). The brickworks also acts as a place of renewal, as the polluted waters of the Don River travel through restored wetlands on the site, the water is filtered from toxins, salt and contaminated runoff.
I just cant get enough of this place and will definitely make return visits in the future.
