Wassup?! How in da world could I have missed dis album? You know what I'm talkin' 'bout - Desire by Bob Dylan. Where was I, and what kind of chemistry was going in my head? Don't answer dat. Yo, okay, dat time but I thought it was un-cool to be listening to da music of a troubadour who wore white face makeup. Folklore acoustic guitar and janky monotone yelps – gimme a break! Back den I was only listenin' to B. B. King and Muddy on da colored radio. Den I saw da movie The Hurricane. You know, with da brother - Denzel Washington playing Hurricane Carter. You remembuh boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, who was wrongly imprisoned for murder? How dare dem leet crackers canned da brother. But back to Dylan - All of da sudden I was having a whoa experience. Man o man. I came away listening to Desire with da bitter sweet feeling of melancholy realizing how flow off da wheezy dis was. It is pure dope.
Lemme know when you gonna invite me again to your soiree.

Moses had just come out of the burning bush encounter. Hair white, forehead shining, eyes squinting because of the Light he just saw. He scowled because he saw another golden calf the people of Israel made. He had to shave his beard because of shame and have a drink of strong black coffee mixed with kosher whiskey in a disposable non-recyclable cup because he was so upset. Hand callused with arthritis from praying and holding the staff for too long during the exodus..
Alternate Reality: "Hmmf ... I don't think I like the smell of New York coffee!"

Voor mijn 'Keti Koti Project'. Met dit, langer lopende project, wil ik aandacht geven aan en vragen voor de herdenking van het afschaffen van de slavernij door Nederland in 1873. Het liefst zou ik zien dat er een nationale feestdag voor zou komen, waarbij we met elkaar kunnen terugkijken én vooruitkijken, helen en vieren.
Ik werk in de maand juni 2021, voorafgaand aan Keti Koti 2021 (1 juli), in CBK Zuidoost, enkele dagdelen per week, aan een serie portretten van mensen die ik een jaar geleden tijdens Keti Koti heb aangesproken en mocht fotograferen. Die foto's ben ik nu aan het uitwerken, op papier, met pen en waterverf. Tegelijkertijd verzamel ik teksten van mensen, waarin ze beschrijven hoe ze Keti Koti ervaren / ervaren hebben, hier in Nederland of in Suriname.
