There are over 100 different beaches on the Whangarei coastline where you can relax and enjoy the sand, water and stunning views. There are great surf spots, diving areas, swimming areas and places to just relaxing and soak up the rays of the sun. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is also fishing and kayaking available at the beaches.

Goblins Knob, a Frogmore special event venue, first launched in 2023. This year at Goblins Knob, Terry Fotherington takes us all to a version of 1666 Pudding Lane, London, before the great fire, with magical vibes of Nocturne Alley and artifacts of a steampunk era.

This male adult Northern Flicker should get the dad of the year award. He is the most attentive parent and has been patient in showing this juvenile around the suet feeders. I also like the juvenile Downy Woodpecker who had enough sense to leave the deck. Taken through the kitchen window. Sorry about the sound but I can't figure out how to remove it. I was next to my refrigerator.

We went so I could hopefully get some photos of Sanderlings and I did but not with my iPhone. We are used to this beach and knew the tide would be out which of course it was….the distant thin blue line on the horizon confirmed that lol…it appeared to be half a mile away so I asked Jonathan to stay back with the dogs whilst I walked to the water which started to slowly roll in. I was absolutely fascinated by the steady movement of the water that didn’t have waves as such but rolled inexorably in. I got my knee wet first then both feet ( leather walking shoes ) but found it fascinating. I found later my favourite iPhone clips kept stuttering and not sure why but this short one gives a feeling of of the mesmerising nature of the sea slowly and sort of gently with no waves as such but little wavelets - that probably isn’t even a real word. Used a Nikon to get some photos of the Sanderlings without the greatest success but it was a wonderful day nonetheless..Sue :)
When are we going to realize that hate, intolerance, greed and superiority only harm our society. The only way forward to achieve peace is to come together, discuss our differences, try and understand one another and work towards mutual solutions. We are all human beings and none of us are better than the other. It is time to realize that we are all an important part of the whole and therefore it is our duty to our children to work together with respect and compassion.

THE MOST OBLIGING BIRD IN THE COUNTRY.
It's hard to get something different to the thousands of shots taken of this bird, so I tried the video function on the camera for the first time.
The Australian magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen) is a medium-sized black and white passerine bird native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Although once considered to be three separate species, it is now considered to be one, with nine recognised subspecies. A member of the Artamidae, the Australian magpie is placed in its own genus and is most closely related to the black butcherbird (Melloria quoyi). Currawongs have yellow eyes, whereas Magpies have red-brown eyes and Butcherbirds have very dark brown, almost black eyes. It is not, however, closely related to the European magpie, which is a corvid. The adult Australian magpie is a fairly robust bird ranging from 37 to 43 cm in length, with distinctive black and white plumage, gold brown eyes and a solid wedge-shaped bluish-white and black bill. The male and female are similar in appearance, and can be distinguished by differences in back markings. The male has pure white feathers on the back of the head and the female has white blending to grey feathers on the back of the head. With its long legs, the Australian magpie walks rather than waddles or hops and spends much time on the ground. Described as one of Australia's most accomplished songbirds, the Australian magpie has an array of complex vocalisations. It is omnivorous, with the bulk of its varied diet made up of invertebrates. It is generally sedentary and territorial throughout its range. Common and widespread, it has adapted well to human habitation and is a familiar bird of parks, gardens and farmland in Australia and New Guinea. This species is commonly fed by households around the country, but in spring (and occasionally in autumn) a small minority of breeding magpies (almost always males) become aggressive and swoop and attack those who approach their nests. this game camera will take still images as well as video/audio....whitetail group up in the winter months only to disperse in the spring to raise the newborn fawns....
Took this movie down at Dave’s dad’s. The little fawns we’re out like crazy and devouring his roses and other plants.

Fly is a professional violinist, visual artist, and a long-time Second Life music performer. “Frozen Tears” is an original piece for solo violin and symphony orchestra composed by Fly. I was honored to write the script for the video and blend our creative visions together for this project. Enjoy.

Juvenile heron posing for me at Connaught Water in Epping Forest today. A bit windy so the lens was buffeted a bit. Astonishing the way these large birds can perch and maintain balance.

Lots of rain + wind... and water spray from Gullfoss (Puh..)
Gullfoss is the waterfall of the river Hvítá in the south of Iceland.
It consists of two steps, 11m and 21m high.
From the second step, the water plunges into a gorge.
2.5 km long from the waterfall to the widening to the valley, depth 70 m.
