Was a Portuguese singer and actress. Born in Lisbon, official documents give her date of birth as July 23, but Rodrigues always said her birthday was July 1, 1920. She was born in the rua Martim Vaz (Martim Vaz Street), freguesia of Pena, Lisbon. Her father was a trumpet player and cobbler from Fundão who returned there when Amália was just over a year old, leaving her to live in Lisbon with her maternal grandmother in a deeply Catholic environment until she was 14, when her parents returned to the capital and she moved back in with them.
She was known as the "Rainha do Fado" ("Queen of Fado") and was most influential in popularizing the fado worldwide. She was unquestionably the most important figure in the genre’s development[citation needed], by virtue of an innate interpretive talent carefully nurtured throughout a 40-year recording and stage career. Rodrigues' performances and choice of repertoire pushed Fado’s boundaries and helped redefine it and reconfigure it for her and subsequent generations. In effect, Rodrigues wrote the rulebook on what fado could be and on how a female singer—or Fadista—should perform it, to the extent that she remains an unsurpassable model and an unending source of repertoire for all those who came afterwards. Rodrigues also remains the sole truly international star to have ever come out of Portugal[citation needed], with an extensive international career between the 1950s and the 1970s, although in an era where such efforts were not as easily quantified as today. Other well-known international artists such as Madredeus, Dulce Pontes and Mariza have come close, however.

Iguazú Falls or Iguaçu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. Together, they make up the largest waterfall system in the world. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The Iguazu River rises near the heart of the city of Curitiba. For most of its course, the river flows through Brazil; however, most of the falls are on the Argentine side. Below its confluence with the San Antonio River, the Iguazu River forms the border between Argentina and Brazil.

First of all, sorry about all the background sound. The director and photographer of this video got lazy and made absolutely no attempt at creativity or artistry! Just a rough and ready clip to show the folding mechanism of my latest little portable travel scooter. I had just returned from a short jaunt along one of our many bike tracks and thought I would do a quick video before putting the trike into the car. The background noise is a council ride on lawnmower keeping the bike track clear and tidy. The trike folding mechanism is really very quiet!

Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. This is Tilly's first time on the beach just 5 days after getting her and she was running about without a lead and had a wee swim. I decided to make a wee video of her first time being on the beach and the sea. It was lovely to see her play with her big sister Ashala. As this was Tilly's video I didn't put any solo shots of Ashala. So if there is just one dog in the picture then it is Tilly. I thought I'd point this out as some of the solo pictures actually look like Ashala and even I have a hard time distinguishing who is who...lol. Tilly looks quite big in some of the pictures but I think that is just a trick of the camera as she is quite tiny. You can gauge her size more accurately when she is swimming in the sea with my sister in the picture the reason why I uploaded these two pictures to try and show her actual size. I hope Tilly will love the sea as much as Ashala she certainly loves running along the beach.

There are over 100 different beaches on the Whangarei coastline where you can relax and enjoy the sand, water and stunning views. There are great surf spots, diving areas, swimming areas and places to just relaxing and soak up the rays of the sun. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is also fishing and kayaking available at the beaches.

Except for two very cold nights this week, when even Lola slept inside, she usually sleeps in her little houses in the garden. But on days with gusty rains, the beds get soaked. That's why I've put up plastic slat curtains in each house and Lola seems to like them and she is happier.

It was a very spontaneous recording. Lanie taught me the dance and provided the special effects. I didn't know the dance, but you can tell because I had to adjust the camera a lot. Sorry for a few small mistakes; I was so excited and thrilled. I knew it wouldn't be perfect, but I absolutely wanted to capture it on video.
