La Fontaine de Vaucluse
Avec un écoulement total moyen de 630 millions de m3 par an, cette source est la première de France, et l'une des plus importantes au niveau mondial, par son volume d'eau écoulé. Elle résulte de l'émergence d'un immense réseau souterrain. Source fraîche et paisible en été, bouillonnante et impétueuse au printemps-automne, la Fontaine de Vaucluse, véritable caprice de la nature, ne cesse d'intriguer curieux et chercheurs depuis l'antiquité.
Les eaux qui bondissent à Fontaine de Vaucluse proviennent de l'infiltration des eaux de pluie et de la fonte des neiges du sud du Mont Ventoux, des Monts de Vaucluse et de la Montagne de Lure qui représentent un "impluvium" de 1240 km² et dont l'unique issue demeure la Fontaine.
L'exploration du gouffre de Fontaine de Vaucluse
Il faut attendre la fin du XIXème siècle et surtout les grandes explorations spéléologiques du XXème siècle pour être certain au moins d'une chose. La fontaine de Vaucluse est une exurgence, c'est-à-dire qu'elle n'est pas à proprement parler une source, mais plutôt la sortie à l'air libre d'une rivière souterraine (la Sorgue de Vaucluse). Elle est l'unique point d'aboutissement d'un immense réseau de cavités qui collecte toute l'eau des massifs environnants (Monts de Vaucluse, Mont Ventoux, Montagne de Lure). C'est l'étendue de cet impluvion (la surface de recueillement des eaux, plus de 1000 km²) qui explique l'exceptionnel débit de la fontaine (630 millions de m3 par an, en moyenne). C'est l'exurgence la plus puissante de France et la cinquième du monde. Le plus étonnant est que ce flot devrait théoriquement se tarir en été, ce qui n'est pas le cas. Les scientifiques n'ont pas encore élucidé tous les secrets de la fontaine...

It's only March 2nd but spring is in full swing on our swamp. This Great Egret was displaying while a female watched from above. I've seen this male Anhinga and a female in breeding plumage but I'm not sure if they're a pair, or just thinking about it. Every day more and more Egrets are arriving, and a few are already incubating eggs.
This video was digiscoped using a GH4 + 20/1.7 mounted on a Swarovski STX85 using a Digidapter. The video was shot in 4K and I zoomed in to about 140% in post processing.

Honey bee swarm showing waggle dance. This swarm was arranged on a pear tree at Copped Hall in the walled garden and had been forming for 3 days. Just after I had taken pictures our bee keeper arrived to knock them into a box for transportation to one of our hives - we already have 2 active.

Man musste so einen Holmer Abfahrer einsetzen nachdem sämtliche Traktoren versunken sind. Dieses Fahrzeug hat extrem breite Reifen und noch dazu ein Spurversetztes Verfahren.
