There are some times when things are just hard to believe... Tis the Season...

It's been that sort of year.

In January we choose to "move out" so that our floors could be sound proofed for our neighbor downstairs. A huge inconvenience made easier because our neighbor, Dave, kindly took us all in. So Camp David was home for a few days.

We found new birds. Lifers. A team effort.

We couldn't avoid orthopedic surgical intervention. But the time away from work was welcomed.

Good friends suffered the crushing loss of a beloved pet. Nothing is clear but the fact that we are helpless to change Nature's course.

My laptop died. The new machine is "just like my iphone." I don't have an iphone. I don't like having to learn a completely new system.

New Year? New gear. (It should come with an Rx for Vicodin.)

It hasn't been a boring year; “…may you live in interesting times,” and we are well into the Holiday Season.

Here is a short movie of the Marina del Rey, Holiday Boat Parade taken with the SX-50. The decorated sailboat was the UCLA parade entry. Last year the winds were so high that the launch was impossible. So this time, the attempt was a cheered a success.

I figured out how to add sound to the movie. And now the swear jar is chock full.

Happy Holidays to all my flickr monkeys.

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has unveiled in stunning detail a small section of the expanding remains of a massive star that exploded about 8,000 years ago.

Called the Veil Nebula, the debris is one of the best-known supernova remnants, deriving its name from its delicate, draped filamentary structures. The entire nebula is 110 light-years across, covering six full moons on the sky as seen from Earth, and resides about 2,100 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan.

This 3-D visualization flies across a small portion of the Veil Nebula as photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope.

Strings tied around my fragile wrists,

my neck, my feet, my heart.

Whenever they get bored with me,

the games begin to start.

They lift my head,

They stab me in the back,

They shatter what's within,

They throw me down,

They spit on me,

Then pick me up again.

Here I stand left so confused,

For freedom; my heart sings,

Frail and fragile, young and dumb,

Just a puppet on a string.

birds in flight and cattle on the pass by.

Pour savourer le bruit de l'eau....

Been shooting for years now, let's try something new this time.

Seems like someone of you are unable to see it, please contact me by flickr mail or comment to let me know.

Many thanks if you have left a comment, or fave. Cheers.

C'est mieux de ne pas avoir trop mangé avant mais c'est COOL :-)

a few 2016 photos in a movie with some 3d effects

music: Gabin "The other way around"

to anwser your question: to do those kind of effects you need Adobe Photoshop (to create masks and depth maps), Adobe After Effects ( for the rain on the window, and the effect like on the close- up portrait or the photo with flashlights) and PremierePro for the rest of effects and putting it all together with music)

presented by Nite and Dreamerscave

Watch this juvie Pileated Woodpecker forage for food then give up and call for a parent. The parent is on the same tree near their chick. Pileated chicks go thru several stages of maturity before fully reaching adulthood. Chicks follow the parents around to learn how to forage. They have a short attention span and get tired easily. Notice the color difference of the adult's crown and its chick. So dang cute!

There were several chicks of varying ages about in the Wenatchee Lake Forest today.
