Day 202 - 7 July 2012

The Kaptain said to unclutter my mind. To think nothing and achieve a state of higher being. Ah yes, the feelings of peace that come over when you only focus on the breath and return back to your infinite source...

What a pity my mind stays filled with rainbows. And my thoughts reign day and night...

Can someone show me the off button, please?

We're Here: Uncluttered

Canon EOS 550D

well, it looks tidy from in front of the monitor, and the cables have to be somewhere

luckily there was a hole where I could fasten the cable

This is a simple wine/juice glass shot from top on a clean platform. color changed!

Its interesting how a frame build from simplest of the setups / shots!! you just need to dare-to-see (not that this is GREAT shot.. but this is certainly not bad :P!!)

BTW.. there is no water int he glass the effect is due to the dark lower part of the glass.

Sometimes when I start a small project, it turns into a major one.

I started out with the intention to clean and unclutter just one room, which led to two rooms, which led the three rooms, which four rooms, which led to five rooms, which led to all the closets.

My front room is even more of a disaster than it was before. I can barely get in or out of my apartment!

I hope to be finished with it all before Christmas.

Not looking forward to sorting through all the stuff in the front room!

But before I get to that room - I have to write my Christmas cards!

But now I need a nap.

I propped up my webcam, set the timer, snapped this, and posted it when I woke up.

Year 2 - Upload 152

December 10, 2008

Cleaned up, all electrical working. Last thing is to add lots of books floor to ceiling.

I'll take an appropriate "after" shot when it's all done

As a college student sharing my bedroom with my sister, my workplace is this desk and bookshelf in the brighter corner of the room.

I've never been to NY, but a friend of mine brought me that cup where I keep my pens and pencils! :)

Oh, by the way, can you find "Unclutter Your Life in One Week" in my bookshelf?

my new year's resolution is to declutter my life. one baby cupboard at a time.

this afternoon i tackled the really out-of-control under-the-kitchen-sink cabinet. it used to be that opening the door to this cubboard gave me a dull pain in my heart, if only for a split second. no longer! it took less than 45 minutes to declutter this sucker and now i'm quite chuffed.

I hung up some really nice Elfa shelving in our laundrey room this weekend.

Before there were sagging shelves that covered the window and block all the light. There are two sets, one on each wall. The set on the left is currently a bit higher than the right to leave room for the washer lid to open.

DIY laptop stand, made from some left over future board (plastic corrugated board) from some other project. I cut out a hole underneath where the fan was, and wrapped the whole thing with some printouts because the board was green and I don't want that color. Then I covered it again with clear contact paper. I hid some excess cord inside.

Maybe the fruit doesn't belong there, but I have nowhere else to put it. (have no dining table). It's the only surface I have in my tiny apartment kitchen.

ADSL-modem, wifi router and all wires hidden under the table.

Been meaning to unclutter this corner of our home. Bought an articulating wall mount, brackets to mount a soundbar below the TV, a bracket to mount the Wii behind the TV and a kit to run some cable through the wall. Not wanting to do this myself I used Task Rabbit to find someone to help me...AWESOME experience!!!! The TV still needs to be tightened which I will do later...and need to get another ikea basket to replace the McGeyver wicker on the bottom right.

Only 2 wires connected to the wall. Power and phone (for ADSL modem).

I installed the Gino Light Mount from Paul Components on my Nitto Mini front rack, for two reasons: unclutter my handlebars, and give the headlight a much more useful angle to shine from. Having it so low gives you much less glare in the fog and also illuminates the street much better, allowing you to see potholes, etc.

"Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort." Franklin D. Roosevelt

Today I went to the local antique show with a friend (thruthelookingglass) and got the chance to talk to some great people. We met a terrific guy that I bought 2 wonderful pillows from last year and he told us about the huge pillow he is making right now. He is wonderfully creative and a joy to talk to. A man who can sew!! Does it get any better than that?!!

Then spoke with another dealer who gave me a hug when we realized that we were kindred spirits...fabricaholics, to be exact. I came away with a beautiful piece of hand loomed red, white and blue wool (I LOVE red, white and blue) and the feeling that I really need to start creating and sewing again.

Right now I am buried under my creative supplies, but I came across the sewing box that belonged to my mom. It became mine when she passed away nearly a year ago. Coincidence? I think not.

It's time to unclutter, simplify, reorganize and start creating again.

(Oh...and thruthelookingglass and I have decided that we should be in business together! She is the most creative person I know. Let's see how this develops!!)

Stewart Park neighborhood in city limits. 3/2 1200 sq. ft. on a little over an acre lot. Young families mixed with older sweet neighbors that you can literally borrow a cup of sugar, a couple of eggs and the recipe from !!! I've lived here for 12 yrs. but we're outgrowing our 1200 sq. ft. home! This older established neighborhood is full of beautiful acre lots, large oak trees, super wide streets make this place popular for walking and riding bikes. We look out for our neighbors and their children.

This house is a 50 yrs. old gem, recently renovated to include light/neutral contemporary colors inside and exposed old honey oak hardwood floors, original floor that was underneath carpet....gorgeous!! Carport was closed in to make a nice 18 ft. wide garage with door and several keypads. The storage/utility area has it's own separate room inside the garage....lots of storage and we have a large storage building outside for tools, lawnmowers, toolboxes, counter area etc. Newly gravelled driveway runs from the front to the back of the house where the service road is...nice feature!! Nice big back yard and decent size deck for the grill, chiminea and table w/ chairs. New landscaping although we're still working on the grass. Additional updating could be done to the kitchen although we replaced all the old appliances with new ones, the countertops are in great shape but new marble or corian would be nicer, tile instead of congoleum on the floor would be nice too. Don't have inside pics yet because we're trying to unclutter. Huge Attic!!!! Crawl space underneath the house and LOTS of insulation in both! We love living here so much but we have got to get a bigger house! This is perfect for any age buyers and a great deal for mid-size budget! If you are interested let me know. Stewart Park NO HOA ! In town limits, 7 minutes to all shoppingj/mall etc. and 2 min. to historic downtown.

With all the snow outside, I have the chance to catch up on some past photos. And . . . I needed a reminder of spring.

Being sick at home instead of work, I got bored and started cleaning up my desk. Getting rid of all the paperwork, cable clutter, and unused geek stuff.

I might got a bit too enthusiastic, ending up with this as a result %-)

Usually I do whatever it takes to unclutter my shots of natural intrusions such as these high voltage transmission lines, going as far as cloning them out when I can't comp around them. But even when shooting this last year, the light on the towers, their spacing and the angles and curves of the lines made me think how they could be made to work for the shot instead of against it.

This is a photo of my uncluttered office. Keeping it simple and functional. What more do I need?

A closer, over-the-shoulder view of the monitor on my KAP ground station. Anyone who uses CHDK will recognize the view. I really like that CHDK lets you use a bitmap as a focusing reticle. I keep a rule-of-thirds reticle loaded on my A650, which makes in-the-air composition a snap.

But now that I'm actually using the thing as a viewfinder, I think I'm going to go through the CHDK settings and unclutter the display a little more...

This was from a beach session at Hapuna in which I put up a kite, tied it off to a big rock, and handed Rydra the controls. (No, that's not me. No, I don't paint my fingernails.) She gave it a thumbs-up!

A little trick I used to unclutter my desktop, based on this gem from Lifehacker.

A work in progress, and I wish I had a good "before" picture. Idea is to strip away all non-essential elements. Perhaps I am not quite enlightened just yet, but this feels a lot better to me

Oops! I've passed the limits of a free account... and a couple of days ago I got this message displayed on my main page...

At this moment, there's no way I can afford to upgrade (which means "buy") a Pro account, so I'll have to start moving some of my pics to my blogs and creating some mosaics. I had uploaded a bunch of pics to make future mosaics anyway, so I guess it's a good time to start that!

I started making mosaics with fd's Flickr Toys, for things I find around here and all over the web and that I like, and mostly for stuff I would like to have/buy/receive one day... So I decided to unclutter my main account and created a new one

This is my LATEST desktop, I decided to use a minimalistic approach this time. My previous desktops have been commented as "Busy" so I decided to unclutter the desktop by removing all the unneeded Rainmeter Modules. The only thing that has changed is the wallpaper and placement of the Rainmeter Modules! Still using the Vista Black for Vista Basic theme, even tho im still on XP! I also added Rainlender, because I need to stay on top of my Homework and progress of things on the computer! My icons are hidden from view on a system toolbar To enable this right Click > New > Folder. After you do that, Drag that new folder to an edge of the screen as far as you can, and a toolbar appears, in that toolbar you can have Quicklaunch or any toolbar that you can have on the taskbar. This is a system wide operation, and doesnt require any downloading of software, its simply one of the best kept secrets of Windows XP! (You can also set it to Autohide, like I did). Thanks to that, My whole desktop can be used for Rainmeter Modules. Check out my Photostream to see more of my iconless Desktops.

This is part of a project I started today on uncluttering. Pick a "hot spot" of total clutter, and set a timer for 15 minutes. You can really get a lot done in fifteen minutes. This area was really bugging me, so I hit it first. Now the goal is to keep it clean. I did leave my coaster, though, for coffee, water, tea, and Gato Negro. Tomorrow's project is the desk, where most of this stuff migrated to.

Need to unclutter your fridge doors? Take picture frames and remove back and glass. Apply the powerstrip adhesive that does not damage walls to backs of frames. Stick onto fridge and then fill in frames with photos, drawings, etc... . I used small magnets to put the photos and drawings in frames. I think adding a chalkboard you make with a thin piece of wood or cardboard and spraying with chalk board paint and then putting into these frames would be neat, too! Have fun! (I got this idea from Pinterest, but the other person with the idea used heavy duty flat magnets to put the frames up. I was unable to find these type of magnets - I looked everywhere, so I used the powerstrip adhesive instead. It worked great!).
