A Cloudy Day North in Thailand.
Historically the Golden Triangle has been an area well-known for the growing of opium, and the name comes from a US State Department memo on the practice. These days, though, the place lives on the cultivation of tourists, and this is undoubtedly the largest tourist trap in northern Thailand.
The landscape is hilly, divided by the Ruak River that flows into the Mekong (Mae Khong) River. These rivers form a natural boundary between the three countries Laos (to the east of the Mekong), Myanmar (to the north of the Ruak), and Thailand (to the west of the Mae Khong).
Small paper models of the molecules of water, methane and ammonia (left to right) that are based on truncated tetrahedra. Most of the equilateral triangles are modified to quadrilaterals and hexagons but four complete triangles are seen in this image.
Molecular models of this type have been an enthusiasm of mine for many years. See the album ... www.flickr.com/photos/jacobs_ian/albums/72157639573537614 ... for stereo images of a sample of molecular structures.

When you see something at the end of the tunnel...It makes you wonder, it needs some exploring, of the urban kind that is.
A small piece of paper folded a few times into a Pyramid shape so it can stand up. Then moving it around under a light to highlight the texture of the paper.
The overall height is less than two inches.
Anyway it was a bit of a last min rush job!
A prism (the triangle) doing double time on a Stop Watch.
My 1st entry into Happy Macro Monday. HMM!! :-)

This valley off to the side of Glen Etive drew my attention since it appeared to consist of a series of triangles and I liked the watercourse criss-crossing the frame. Viewed upside down, it looks entirely like a child's 'fit the blocks together toy' and very little like a photograph of landscape! The sunlight never did get around to cooperating fully - or rather, the clouds didn't - but I still like the geometry of this.
Smile on Saturday: Balancing act
The bottom triangle is anchored in some styrofoam to keep it upright and steady enough to support the second triangle. Way more fun than I ever had with these things in math class....
30 year old toy vacuum that picks up blocks. It was my daughter's in the early 90's, saved it for the grandkids.
Partner, should I carry on? I imagine seriously dense quilting on this one, white or ivory background.

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "triangles". Leaves from a tree in garden arranged to form triangular shapes.
Here's the front of that '74 Mazda RX4 at the Cuyama Car Garden. This rarity was hauled out, hosed off and is on it's way to a new home in New Zealand. Night, deep shade with flashlight.
The alien landscape of Jökulsárlón with its glowing blocks of ice welcoming dawn on the black sand beach. Here a glowing iceberg reflects the cold heat of the rising sun.
Looks best on black.
Comments as always appreciated, but please no flashy award codes.
The white triangle looks like the "lying triangle or arrow", the symbol for "next picture/photo". In fact, however, the photograph shows a section of the "vitra design museum" building in Weil am Rhein/Germany.
