Eastern coal loads running as N922 clatter across the B&O diamonds and are about the cross the NKP diamonds in busy Fostoria, OH back in 2010. The classic cantilever signals were still standing on the C&O at that time, but were not long for the world.

One of the flags at Shri Badrinath Temple.
Why are a lot of flags associated with religion triangular?
Perspectives :

All the Hindu flags are triangular as they represent the Tridev - brahma, vishnu and mahesh. As per hindu mythology the universe is balanced on three points, one to each of the three gods. The triangle represents the same.
Its only a guess but seems fairly correct :)

you made me curious to ponder what is the significance of a triangular flag? so i asked my nani maa.. she said that a religious flag represents sovereignty of the supreme (god) and there are reasons to have three cornered flag, the main reason being the value assigned to number 3 in hindu myths and religion, namely:
1) the religious flag represents the three lok (worlds) at god's disposal. namely- akaash (the heaven), dharti (the earth) and pataal (the hell??) at its three arms.
2) the three corners of the flag signify the time ie the past, present and the future. and the flag as a whole marks the eternal nature of the deity/ religion in question.
3) it also denotes the body, mind and soul- three elements of life under surveillance of god.

.i would think that maybe with the point of the triangle facing outward...gives a sense of searching for a point..or fixing ones mind on a point...

I’m cold and helpless tonight, but I’m pretending, to be fine. Kinda funny you said, it’s over, but I still believe, we have some time. It would be so nice to wake up next to you, but she’s between us. Love triangle is cruel! My head is tortured, ‘cause she is perfect for you. What have you done? I can’t believe...Untill I die, I swear, I’ll keep you safe till the end. I’ll keep you in my heart, my baby. But will you love me till the end? I want him, she want him, he want her. The love triangle stuck in our head. I’m not that pretty, but I’m the only one who makes you happy...

A little 'diy' page marker. A great project for children to make and decorate!!
It's been sunny and warm, the last few days and these boats here were forming some nice triangles. Let's see how long will it stay this warm; boats will continue to form triangles, regardless of the weather. :)

Assignment #2/2016 for the Studio 26 group is Triangles.
Looking back over my photostream, I found that there were very few definite tringles used in my compositions. One that I did find is a shot I took of a tulip flower head (see first comment box below). I re-oriented the original shot and did a square crop to emphasise the triangular shapes.
My shot for submission for this assignment is a head shot of our new GSD rescue, Zara. The GSD head is just a triangle lovers dream - The head itself is very strongly triangular in shape, as are the ears. There is also the triangular relationship between the nose and eyes and the nose itself has a triangular shape. If you really look hard, you can even make triangular shapes within the wispy fur in front (at the base) of her ears.
I was going to put up a comparative shot with Kizzy, but she is extremely reluctant to sit and pose like Zara, so one day when she is not looking...
A Cloudy Day North in Thailand.
Historically the Golden Triangle has been an area well-known for the growing of opium, and the name comes from a US State Department memo on the practice. These days, though, the place lives on the cultivation of tourists, and this is undoubtedly the largest tourist trap in northern Thailand.
The landscape is hilly, divided by the Ruak River that flows into the Mekong (Mae Khong) River. These rivers form a natural boundary between the three countries Laos (to the east of the Mekong), Myanmar (to the north of the Ruak), and Thailand (to the west of the Mae Khong).
"All we have is this moment." The moment when fog, light and everything comes together. This was shot on Saturday morning last weekend where the fog was just grand!
Strangely, I set up at "the spot" where the TransAmerica building would align through the North Tower (didn't even know that until a good hour into the shoot and saw something through the tower).
