The specially chartered Ski Train just left the siding of Crescent. Because this train has been chartered, it is heading westbound in the evening. This makes for some outstanding pictures because the train is typically heading away from the sun during its normal runs.

One of the best train rides I've ever experienced was on this train in Thailand. More than 40 years old, this classic set of passenger cars went careening through Kanchanaburi Province, that great clickity-clack sound shaking every bolt. You could move between cars, watching the rail ties flash beneath your feet as you made a little leap to the next car. The windows were wide, crooked, and opened all the way down, allowing you to hang out as you sped along the country side. Just fanastic.

Of course to us it was a cool novelty, but joining us on the train were school kids and local workers simply making their daily commute.
