#Tooth #Enamel is composed of: • HAP - Hydroxyapatite (92–94 percent) • Water (2–3 percent) • Carbonate (2 percent) • Trace elements (sodium, magnesium, potassium, chloride, zinc, which total about 1 percent) • Lipids (< 1 percent) • Fluoride (0.01–0.05 percent) The mineral component (HAP-) forming enamel, dentin and cementum is not in a pure form but, instead, contains considerable amounts of carbonate, sodium, magnesium and chloride, as well as a small quantity of fluoride.
A simple tooth extraction is a procedure carried out by dentists or oral surgeons. During this procedure, local anesthesia will be used to numb the affected area to ensure the patient does experience pain during the extraction. Read more: www.cityscapedentalgroup.com/tooth-extractions/
This tooth comes from one of the largest and most powerfull predators of all time: the giant shark Megalodon. A study published not too long ago found that Megalodon had one of the strongest bites of any carnivore, living or extinct. This would have helped it kill it's main prey of whales. A fossil whale found in Santa Barbara was nearly the size of a modern day fin whale. what is more, the bones bore the tooth marks of Megalodon, demonstrating that this shark could handle prey even larger than itself.
During large parts of the Cenozoic California was under water. This included Los Angeles. Many of the fossils in this display were found in the Leguna and Santa Monica Hills of Los Angeles County as well as Mission Vallejo and Palos Verdes.
One of her top front teeth is finally loose! Looks like it'll be out any time now. We'll take an "after" shot, once it comes out!
Strobist: Sunpak 30DX left @ 1/8; 100 watt daylight bare bulb (1/6 second exposure); inside the ghetto light box on granite tile.
I used some leftover pieces of Susan Branch fabric, a small square of batting, and one of my itty bitty polymer clay buttons that I made a while ago, and came up with this little pillow for temporarily storing lost teeth (and Tooth Fairy spoils).
My webcam arguably takes better pictures than my real camera. :|
Tooth fairy costume! It has wings, a black skirt with sparkles, bitchin' stockings (that you can't see, alas), earrings made from my wisdom teeth, a bandolier of useful tools (flashlight for sneaking into kids' rooms, bag of teeth and shiny quarters, ring of keys to get into all those houses, BIG PLIERS) and bandolier of toothbrushes (with an extra one stuck into my bun.
I am pleased, for a first draft!

Two colorful Tooth Fairy Pillows, they have a pocket in the front for your little one simply leave the fallen out tooth and receive the gift from the tooth fairy.
Tooth Fairy Pillows are made from felt and the measurements are 5x5 inches (12x12).
I don't care what Leica's marketing says, manually focusing a fast lens in available light is *hard*
a ring with a little tooth of mine... i received it as a gift in my first communion.
then many little girls wore jewelry made with their teeth, but now all people think that's creepy :P
at out last snowdeal family visit to the dentist, we were informed that while they were almost imperceptively loose then, odin did indeed have some loose baby teeth and we should expect a visit from the tooth fairy Real Soon. apparently they weren't kidding around because odin recently showed us by excitedly wiggling them with his tongue that he has not one, not two but three loose teeth!
while it's all very exciting, the thought of him loosing his baby teeth is, of course, a bit bitterweet what with all the impending changes for his mouth and face as he loses his boyish features to make room for his Big Boy Teeth. we've been on constant watch and i've been quite certain each and every morning that it will be his last with a mouth full of baby teeth. and yet, they keep hanging on.
being the sentimentalist that i am, i thought it best to try and capture a few moments of his mouth full of baby teeth one morning when i was quite certain he'd lose at least one over breakfast.
he was, at first, not so interested in cooperating with providing a toothy smile.
I was really into making these. A fairy attached to a small drawstring bag to hold that lil tooth until the tooth fairy comes and does her magic!
Check out my profile!
Fiona has undergone a transformation over the past few weeks as one of her front teeth fell out and the other has "migrated" to the centre making her look like Nanny Mcfee with a single central tooth. All very amusing (to me) but I'm sure the tooth fairy will be generous when the second one falls out.

A VERY easy to make, frugal alternative to flouride and sulfate filled toothpastes from the store.

i went on a hiking trip in new mexico last summer and this was day number 11 with no showers, but with a beautiful view
So, I went to the dentist on Friday 10/16/09 and it was determined I had a molar (sp?) that needed to be removed. Lucky for me my dentist is open 7 days a week.
So this photo I took today post torturous tooth pulling at the dentist in Reynoldsburg. Floating on vicodin at the moment. Miss my tooth already - we had been through alot together...
