An old 1940's Chevrolet AK series truck is seen parked up down a side street in Missoula.
The geotag location is approximate.
The beautiful models are my daughter and my niece. They are what they call double-cousins, meaning my sister is married to my husband's brother.
This shot at the corner of Parliament Square was taken two days after the 2015 General Election, which perhaps accounts for the image’s sombre tone.
I had always wanted to add my own slant on this popular vantage point, taken outside the Government Offices on Great George Street and capturing Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and a couple of photogenic telephone boxes. My aim with this image was to play up the sense of depth, proportion and detail. What jumped out for me in this instance was the contrast between Gothic and Edwardian architecture in the frame, as well as the intricacy of the opal glass behind the clock, and the ethereal mood created by the streetlamps as the sun struggled to break through heavy clouds.

Otto Schmidinger is from Queensland, and this beautiful painting of a pastoral scene could come from many corners of this country. Schmidinger has taken a traditional Australian landscape theme and given it a contemporary twist. And I must say I am delighted, as were the many people who thronged around it as well. It is all too easy in the contemporary art environment for people to go with work that pushes boundaries of genre, and has a few ideological axes to grind. So again it is a credit to the judges that this was deemed worthy of a place in the final 42.
Otto is straight to the point with his description too:
"I wanted to show a landscape outside of time. This painting is of one of the timeless scenes that I was captured by when travelling Tasmania. I think many people are attracted by that aura of endless tranquility and love Tasmania for that reason."

Without getting out much to gather some new images, I enjoy perusing the library for ones I have slightly forgotten. This was captured back in April of this year on our trip to Iceland. I was fortunate to take a day trip south to view a few waterfalls that had been on my list for some time now. Now that it's crossed off, I can hope to visit a few more spots on the next trip out.
I go back and forth about which version of this image I prefer, the monochrome or color. So for now, black and white wins out. I've gone back and converting a lot of my waterfall images from Iceland to monochrome. I just really enjoy the timeless feel of both the Icelandic landscape and the black and white finish.

The beaver pond at Schwabacher Landing in Grand Teton National Park is one of North America's great treasures....and it always is a treat to stand on the shoreline and take in the marvelous scene.
