A quick timelapse shot from my bedroom window of balloons of the Bristol Balloon Fiesta shortly after taking off.
Time lapse, and a touch of image processing to spruce it up a bit. (The source images were pretty washed out, a consequence of my not-quite-perfect manual settings needed for time-lapse...)

Something a bit different before I complete the set of photographs from North Korea: I attached my camera to the front of our tour bus as we drove from Kaesong to Pyongyang along the almost-deserted Reunification Highway and set up a timelapse movie. This represents almost an hour of driving; yet you seejust a handful of other vehicles.
The road surface is not good, hence the rather jumpy footage.
I filmed this during the eclipse in December: I intended to film the whole eclipse using two different cameras, but it was too cloudy to see anything that night. The clouds sort-of broke for a few minutes, during which I filmed this. It's not what I wanted, but I won't get another chance until the year 2014, so it is what it is.

Calatheas are called "Prayer Plants" because they fold up their leaves at night.
This is a Calathea Picta Royale, shot once every 5 minutes, 7am to 7pm, for a day.
Timelapse video of Jupiter and Europa during a shadow transit on February 27, 2014. Images acquired using a SkyWatcher Evostar 120mm refractor and 5x Barlow lens, with a Canon EOS 60D.
Added another sequence, shot over 5 hours from another window in the house. Processed most of the light pollution out of it. Again all done in camera via Magic Lantern software.
The flashing is NOT incorrectly processed timelapse frames but an intermittant fault on a near street light. They spoil everything! :)

A 40 minute timelapse from Crater Lake this afternoon, it's the first time I've been there and seen ANY clouds, never mind this many.
The second half of the video shows the difference in the colour of the water as the sunlight comes and goes.

In this one you can see two meteors (one especially bright), a couple of planes and the fuzzy blob that moves from left into centre is the Andromeda Galaxy... about 2.5 million light years away.
Courtesy of a new intervalometer that I purchased for my camera, I decided to try out some timelapse imagery. And what would be the best place to show it off, if not the Golden Gate Bridge. With its fast-moving, heavy, Saturday-night traffic and some constrasting colors, I figured it would be the best place to take a dip into time-lapsing.
Yes, this was not a video that I shot, but rather 400 individual images that I then stitched up to form a 25s long time-lapse video, providing a 1:30 time compaction of the scenery. The spot I chose was on exactly on the line connecting the two supporting towers of the Golden Gate Bridge.
What would have made this nicer would be some fog blowing across the bridge adding more dynamism into the video. Sadly, today was a fog free day.
I am still trying to figure out details of time-lapsing, as it is harder than it looks, and it involves a lot of patience and waiting around... Expect more of these in the coming months.

Hiking under clear bluebird skies in the Sierra Nevada certainly has its charm: unobscured vistas of glimmering distant snow-capped peaks. On the other hand, hiking under stormy conditions offers so much more, as can be seen in this timelapse.
On that weekend backpack, I had had my share of those clear bluebird skies transitioning to a threatening mass of grey clouds in a matter of hours (and about 5 miles of hiking). As the thunderstorm, typical of the many summer storms that lash the high Sierras but quite atypical of the ending days of September, rolled in, it brought with it a magic in the clouds: an ever-changing swirling mass of wispy white water vapor whose form and structure are quite evanescent!.
I had stopped and wanted to shoot timelapses multiple times, but the short day and the dangers of hiking in a thunderstorm kept pushing us forward in a pace that left very little time for photography. So here is the only sequence that I shot there. Music from Thomas Bergerson's Illusion Album
I hope to combine it with timelapse sequence and create a much larger video.

I got a Brinno timelapse camera a while ago, so that (a) I could leave it outdoors for projects and (b) my DSLR wouldn't be tied up for days (or weeks) on end doing timelapses. The Brinno certainly doesn't provide the quality or control of my 60D, but I think it will be a fun toy to play with.
It's maiden run was a project with a bouquet of tulips, but I was disappointed that the resulting timelapse just wasn't very interesting. However, I found this classic Tiny Tim track on iTunes, in a compilation called 'Flower Power', lol.... so, as an homage to that memorable era, I did a little psychedelic processing on the vid, and this is the result - a silly little vid for a Sunday afternoon.
