Kind of a rare event in mid parts of Sweden. Most of the time it's cloudy when this happens. Spent almost 2 hours outside in the cold and here's the result!

CHDK timelapse of a sunflower that died before fully blossoming. Ack.

Started the 26th of May, ended today 4 June 2011

I didn't expect it to take so long to blossom, and I'm afraid it died for lack of direct sunlight. In any case, when it started to smell bad, and attract flies, I had to take it outside.

Over the course of two hours, I sat on a dock getting progressively more sunburned while my camera captured one frame every ten seconds. 806 frames later, I had enough to string together a 33-second timelapse of the clouds going by above Soyers Lake, just outside Haliburton, Ontario.

I would have kept going had my camera battery not run out.

Phase One 645DF+ with P30+ digital back. 1/80" @ f/16, 35mm f/3.5 lens. ISO 100, WB flash.

Post in Capture One Pro 11.2 and Final Cut Pro.

Cool weekend at the cottage, nothing to do but drink, eat, drink, read, drink, and take long timelapse photography experiments....

I like the cloud perspective effect on this one.

Note: Flickr's video player seems kind of weak. The video looks smoother if you pause, wait for it to finish loading, and then restart. When I start doing more than just these little experiments I may have to put them on Vimeo or YouTube or something....

Note:

Phottix Nikos was working fine with 1 or 2 second intervals this time around; previously I had trouble making it work with intervals less than 5 seconds. Not sure what I changed that made it work ok...

Took me a while to work out how to do this. Usually a timelapse startrail movie allows you to see the stars move across the sky as a dot. A timelapse startrail photograph allows you to see the startrail as a line. This style allows you to see the photograph build into a line and then disappear. This is my first attempt at this style of startrail timelapse movie. Short but sweet.

Be sure to set to HD and turn your sound on.

La Luna, protagonista indiscussa delle ultime settimane, ruba la scena notturna alla Via Lattea.

La nostra Eroina, tutto l'inverno confinata sotto l'orizzonte, prepara il suo ingresso nel cielo stellato dell'emisfero settentrionale Terrestre.

MilkyWay, il suo nome in lingua internazionale, attraversa questa fase di riscaldamento, dove la Luna, col suo fare altezzoso, la segue, senza tregua. Affaticata, la vanitosa, perde però di forza, giorno dopo giorno..

Insomma la Via Lattea si prepara ad essere l'unica protagonista delle prossime notti stellate, in tutto il suo splendore..ne vedremo delle belle!!!
