Now I know, there's a better way
Let my heart ride out for a brighter day
Now it's time to breathe in the open air,
With my mind so free, anywhere
It's time to break free!
It's time to be me, free.

Nearly 15 minutes here as the clouds stream past the trees along the horizon. The clouds were moving parallel, making for an interesting effect with the hole in the sky :)
A gloomy, wet & windy day. Solution, an extra-long exposure of an old faithful subject accentuating the drawn-out moving clouds.

At the beginning of winter we had lots of moisture out west and conditions were ideal for low fog mornings. Since that time we haven’t received any rain at all. Good photography hinges heavily on precipitation. It provides rain which grows green grass, and wildflowers in spring. It creates a snowpack in the Sierra which provides epic winter scenes. And it creates fog, which is something I look forward to the most. Unfortunately, this winter started with a bang and is ending on a whimper. We haven’t had a normal winter in California in 3 years. And have only received two in the last 10.
Preoccupied and busy, with our eyes glued to electronic screens, we think we have control of time.
But nature keeps her own calendar.
Colours fade, petals fall, seeds harden, the garden closes itself with or without my help.
Round and round go the hands of time.
Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back. Harvey MacKay

I’ve recently acquired a new set of vintage watch parts as over the years most of my old set has been lost, mostly to the hoover!
Thought this French day dial was cool for the theme and perfect for Macro Lundi.
HMM!
Sadly I didn't get up just in time today and missed a fantastic sunrise, with wonderful layered cloud. The other night though I did get to the beach just in time, and had great fun . I need to plan for sunrises more, but they're so unpredictable. Just in time by Ivor Cutler is fine.

Exhibition/installation by Melbourne artist Rone at the Flinders Street Station in the centre of the city. Spread across multiple rooms in the disused and dilapidated third floor of the old Victorian station, the exhibition has been sold out for every day of its six month run.
The Newsagency is at street level, and is free to enter.

After another day on the coast, it's getting late and time to start thinking about finding someplace for dinner before heading back over the hills for home.
Montara, just south of Pacifica, California.
Here's a scene from Ipstones Common - looking across to Ipstones Parish Church. The thing is I didn't particularly want this to be about the church or the amazing fast moving clouds but I wanted to make it about history and the passing of time.
It's amazing how fast clouds can move when it's breezy and I was looking at the tombstones and thinking of all all the people who have lived and worked in this village over the centuries, including generations of my own family. The clouds just seemed to represent that passing of time somehow.
I used an ND filter to get a slower shutter speed and some movement on the clouds. I needn't have in the end actually, but using the ND always gives a certain dreaminess so I went with it anyway. I used my camera bag for support and a release cable but made the church out of focus anyway with the idea that I'd boost the large details in post to create a kind of skull eye socket look in the windows - which I did. I also used lots of different blurring techniques before experimenting with various mono conversions. This one worked the best for me, I guess the sepia tones made it just that little bit more about the past.
So, it's an artistic representation of a scene I see most days - a scene full of memories.
