I caught these three Flickers hanging out on a branch. There was a lot of sqwaking going on, and now I see that one of the is excavating a nest hole....hopefully soon I can get baby shots!
I was lucky enough to have the sun just catch the eyes of this white-tailed kite, at Coyote Hills, in Fremont, CA.

Although the Sandhill crane flies thousands of miles every year to breed, they somehow avoid flying near anything interesting while I'm shooting. Oh well..at least they came out sharp.

I made a 104cm, length is great and can easily be made longer because the ribbon fastening is so adjustable.

At the 'Three Rondavels viewpoint' is an unforgettable view of three huge rock spirals rising out of the far wall of the Blyde River Canyon. Their tops appear to have a hut-like rounded roof. A rondavel is a traditional African style house, so that's why they call these three spectacular peaks as 'Three Rondavels' (source).
I know the composition on this shot has a lot to be desired. You can't even see the flowers on her cake, for pete's sake! But I was kinda overcome by this celebration for my grandmother's 100th birthday, which was a few weeks ago. We celebrated it at the nursing home where she lives now. She was beautiful -- her silver hair very sharp, her black sweater spotless, her red-rose corsage stunning. Some of my cousins, whom I hadn't seen since I was a little girl, came, too. We all stood around and smiled at each other.
I can't imagine living 100 years.

so...weird.
uhm, so yeah, nothing truly of interest happened today: i had double extended lunch during which i came home, had taquitos, watched last week's episode of new girl, cleaned my room in preparation for chrissy coming home, and watched some youtube videos. then, after school, i found out that chrissy doesn't come home until tomorrow.
whatever.
oh and i also presented my project on the serial killer dean corll and i got a 99% so yeah!
