One of the highlights of my trip to Costa Rica was getting to see wild sloths. The way they looked and moved was just so bizarre and alien to me. Their movements were slow and methodical, but faster than I expected. They could climb up and down trees, and even switch trees completely, in relatively short amount of times. There camouflage is incredible. We saw at least five sloths during the two weeks we were there, and most of the time they were difficult to pick out from among the leafy green canopy.
My Dad spotted this one while we were hiking along a trail near the Sierpe River. He was hanging out near the start of our trail, so after a few minutes of watching him we moved on. When we got back about 2 hours later, he had moved over several trees and was stretched out between two neighboring branches.

Bjørn Magne and Merete had been to the Three Floyds Brewing Company brewpub in Munster, Indiana, a month before I went on my own American beer odyssey and they had recommended a stop there (which I did). They also brought some good beers with them back to Norway, such as this one - the Three Floyds Dreadnaught, a 9,5% abv imperial IPA.
It has such a smooth flavor of well balanced hops, not the common hops explosion one usually finds in other double IPAs, and nice sweetness that lingers for a long time in the mouth. A really, really good double IPA!
