Loon Lake at Savanna Portage State Park!
Doc Stebbins' little nephew came down for the summer. He's a real precocious tyke, Ernest is, both mechanically and with the second sight. Here Ernest is entertaining the three headless angels by giving them a ride on the machine he constructed. Little do the angels know it's a working time machine... The little imp's apple hasn't fallen far from his uncle's tree.
I just HAD to go back for a third time to Brown-Lowery Park today, to see if I could find any new species of fungus : ). I know that soon everywhere will be covered in a layer of snow : (. In addition to a few more photogenic mushrooms, I was lucky enough to come across this male (yellow on forehead) Three-toed Woodpecker, too. Amazingly, it had flown to a tree right by the trail where I was walking, but definitely not at eye-level, suggested by this image, LOL! The light was grim, so almost all my photos will have to be deleted. Did manage to rescue about four of them, though. These birds are uncommon year-round; irruptive.
Lisse, 04-05-2006. Het is moeilijk te zien, maar deze fuut had drie jongen tussen de vleugels. Helaas kon ik niet dichterbij komen.
Lisse, 04-05-2006. It is difficult to seen on this picture, but this great crested grebe had three young ones between its wings. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to get closer to the bird.

Three gorges is a beautiful area, well worth the trip. Soon they will flood the whole valley and much of the beautiful red cliffs here will be underwater forever.

The wall mural encountered upon entry to Three Forks, Montana defines the area. The Northern Pacific Railway runs through it. The Milwaukee Hiawatha passenger train had a terminal here. The Sacajawea Hotel is a long term landmark. Grain fields and the Trident cement plant provide jobs and income. And it is where three rivers meet to form the Missouri River. Three Forks in one wall.
Alex is never one to turn down a good train ride, so we had to ride the Riverside Express when we went to Riverside Park, in Guelph, the other night after work. We were the only ones on board that night, so the operator went around three times.
I have been trying to capture the Three Sisters of Katoomba in fog or snow for a few times now. Would have liked a bit more fog over the valley here, but this is a nice compromise I suppose -- once I came up when it was really foggy and you couldn't see beyond your fingers!

The three windmills at the top of the hill behind my house. I like the fact that the moon was sparkling gently off the snow in the foreground. There's a bit of noise still apparent in the sky, this is a real problem with my Lumix even at ISO100 unfortunately. Nevertheless, the company which runs the windmills chose this photo for their Christmas card this year :-)
found near 23rd Street and 6th Avenue earlier this evening.

Clockwise from left are our three cats Blaze, T.G. (stands for Tough Guy), and Glory. Glory is our dog Sheba's best friend, but they are very shy about being photographed together.
